[COM] Adelaide Oval Redevelopment
[COM] Re: U/C: Adelaide Oval Redevelopment | 53,500 | $545m
Masses of photos on Instagram/Twitter - really does look brilliant at night. People are raving about it.
Proves that the naysayers were/are just a vocal minority.
With the Oval and bridge lit up while events are on, it's going to be a pretty special place.

Was back in adelaide over xmas So thought I would take my boy down to have a look like so many others have here. Security greeted me at the northern gates and told me in no uncertain terms I was not welcome which I found surprising given the reports here of people walking straight in to the hill. Admittedly this was 9am on nye before the t20 that night but I hadn't come this far too miss out so walked around the perimeter a bit and came across an unlocked trade entrance that opened to some stairs that took us straight up to the decking and on to the hill. Stoked. Spent 15 min relaxing as the boy ran up and down the hill while I marvelled at the sight.
The view from the hill is seriously impressive. Looks like a cauldron with the wall of seats in the southern stand in front of you. Can't wait.

Can't wait to check out the new stand tonight!

How's the eastern stand coming along? Seating bowls look almost finished from what I've seen, but how's it looking from outside?

Shot of the Eastern stand from Sunday night. Looks like the $700 Legends seats will get wet when it rains.
(Sorry that the photo is so big, not sure how to make it smaller)

I drove past AO before, it looks like the roofing's completely on the eastern stand, didn't get the chance to get some pics though!
[COM] Re: U/C: Adelaide Oval Redevelopment | 53,500 | $545m
After yesterday's strikers game, it looks like they are starting to put the seats in level 3 of the Eastern Stand and the roof has been finished for the whole stand.
I know the workers will get it all finished before the stones play on March 22, but not much looks like its been done since the Strikers game on jan 5. I'm guessing they couldn't work during the heat wave last week.
I'm heading down on Wednesday night, will post some more photos after that (I'll try & work out how to make them smaller in size, unlike my last effort!)

Short vid from T20 yesterday. Taken from Aisle 524 Row JJ (second last row). Pretty impressive view and did not seem as far away as I imagined it to be.

I'll let you in on a little secret. You were being watched. Lucky for you you had a child running around care free and you stayed on the hill.fifty wrote:Was back in adelaide over xmas So thought I would take my boy down to have a look like so many others have here. According to the CFMEU website, all workers must leave the premises once it hits 37 degrees or above. So all of last week they wouldn't have been working, and assuming they don't work on weekends there wouldn't have been any work since the 10th of Jan.justinpa1 wrote:After yesterday's strikers game, it looks like they are starting to put the seats in level 3 of the Eastern Stand and the roof has been finished for the whole stand.

I think you will find that last week the workers would have started work in the mornings and then
once the temperature reaches 37 degrees they would finish for the day.

And some construction workers were on site again yesterday - before the Strikers game.
Once again, lots of interest in the redeveloped Adelaide Oval, including visitors wandering around outside the plaza before the game (and some checking out their seats for the 2015 ICC matches).
Good video, robboaustralia - showing vision from the 'nosebleed seats' in the Southern/Riverbank stand. Fantastic views and atmosphere. The stand amplifies the voices to a great roar. Football crowds are likely to make this roar even bigger!

Exactly, the acoustics will be brilliant. Two of Port Adelaide's supporter groups - the official Cheer Squad and my group The Alberton Crowd - will be based at the southern end in the same bay. The concourse behind us apparently carries a great echo.Vee wrote:And some construction workers were on site again yesterday - before the Strikers game.

I can remember visiting friends in West Lakes and being able to hear the roar from their house (several streets away).
Will be great if the sound can carry the same distance from Adelaide Oval. Should be a great buzz around the city on match days.
