If you looked around the hill area, you would have noticed all the cameras. I've heard there's a few hundred cameras around the stadium now.
That's what happens when the SMA is filled with dinosaurs from SACA and SANFL.

Wondering if the Creswell Gardens will be restored in time for the Stones/Showdown. Still a lot of work to be done on the eastern stand. Sure cutting it fine.

Usual deal with major projects like this with such a tight deadline - get the things done that must be done (seats, toilets, bars, etc - the stadium), then fix up the rest (stuff which looks nice but doesn't stop the stadium running at 100% capacity).

I thought the bridge was closed (to complete construction) until the start of the AFL season? maybe the commentators used it during the Test match? like so many of us did:) Good to hear so many positive comments in the ether about Adelaide:)
Big infrastructure investments are usually under-valued and & over-criticized while in the planning stage. It's much easier to envision the here and now costs and inconveniences, and far more difficult to imagine fully the eventual benefits.

I went to the oval for the first time last night to watch the game only to be turned away as it had "Sold out" unless you held a members card.... however the crowd was only 21,000. How ridiculous there were thousands of people being turned away i can only imagine how much money they would have lost.

I went to the Oval for the first time last night and sat on the hill - was highly surprised they were still using a prehistoric system of iridescent bunting put in place by a steward to stop people walking across the concourse behind the sight screen at alternate overs - thought they might have given a bit of thought to this in the stadium design or even in the way they used the shade cloth to block off the area behind the sight screen - maybe made a tunnel enclosed by the shade cloth - must say the interior of the oval does look great but wonder how many years until the hill disappears.

Prehistoric was placing a sign there asking people not to move during the over.
I think the current system works perfectly well without creating a crapload of effort for ground staff OR blocking more view of the ground for anyone on the hill, as an above-ground tunnel would do.
