Big deal! Repairs, minor fixes, teething problems are part and parcel of most construction, development work.Port Adelaide Fan wrote:Repair work starts on new Rundle Mall

Interesting to see this comment from an ACC spokesperson in the comments section - in reply to a comment on the lighting in the redeveloped section.
I know that timelines were tight to get the first section ready for the pre-Xmas and post-Xmas sales rush. The weather was very hot and the lack of shade for pedestrians and seating and the glare off the paving was particularly noticeable. This, and the lack of Xmas decorations in the new section, created a big contrast with the older section.... the new lighting system in the Mall will start construction in the next couple of months. It will be what is known as a catenary lighting system that is strung from building facades crisscrossing high above the Mall. Late in 2013 we were still finalising a small number of agreements with some building owners and so to make sure we had bumped out of the western end of the Mall before the busy Christmas/New Year shopping period we opted to put in the temporary lighting that you see now. Thanks ACC

How much more of this shite is The Advertiser going to dish up?
Hopefully by the time it's somewhere near actually being finished they'll have exhausted the list of things to slag off.

It's at the point of embarrassing where it seems necessary to be as negative as possible ... Unfortunately we have stage 2 of mall bashing on the way .... YIKES!!!!!

classic case of damned if you do, damned if you don't.
honestly people would complain about a free dinner.
The upgrade appears to be going well (and this is from a knocker) and looks good, I have to admit, my favourite part is walking a flat surface.

What do people expect from The Advertiser? It's not exactly highbrow journalism...Matt wrote:How much more of this shite is The Advertiser going to dish up?

To quote my boss, 'The two journalists The Advertiser have here have to justify their keep somehow'stronic wrote:What do people expect from The Advertiser? It's not exactly highbrow journalism...Matt wrote:How much more of this shite is The Advertiser going to dish up?

Vox pops on the street are the IRL version of reading the AdelaideNow comments.
Channel 10 does a kind of bipolar version of covering developments in Adelaide.

AMAZING DEVELOPMENTS EVERYWHERE!
Boo!
TERRIBLE DEVELOPMENTS EVERYWHERE!
Boo!
Ok, amazing developments for some, terrible developments for others, and tiny flags for everyone?!
Yay!

Lets extrapolate that grab. I assume it may have gone something like this:crawf wrote:0.54

"Is there anything in particular you don't like"
"No, I just don't like it"
"Anything they could change or that they should have done differently"
"No, I just don't like it"
"Can you offer some constructive criticism?"
"No, I just don't like it"
"All we are is bags of bones pushing against a self imposed tide. Just be content with staying alive"

You got to remember that the people they use for vox pops are the same people Sam Newman goes for in street talk

When you hit the Adelaidenow 5 article limit, try typing in "www.news.com.au" instead of "Adelaidenow.com.au", with the rest of the file path unchanged. Works a treat ....AdelaideAlive wrote:looks like the new lights for rundle mall have hit a hurdle their being redesigned, sorry cant provide link from Adelaide now as have used up my quota for the day
