The car park was on the other side on the original plans. Could still go ahead. Way to tell would be to head up to level 8 of the carpark next door to check for any connecting work on the ramp near the northern lifts.crawf wrote:Also wasn't this level originally going to be used as a carpark?. The Terrace is for bank staff only. It is one of the alternative work spaces...crawf wrote:TooFar wrote:The office fitout is not 100% complete, but staff have started moving in.
Here is a little sneak peak...
..
The outdoor terrace looks great. Is this part of the new library?
Also wasn't this level originally going to be used as a carpark?. So glad common sense prevailed.
There is a car park below on Level 3 that is also only for bank staff. The Library is on the same level and will be accessed via Francis Lane, it also has a terrace, but not nearly as big.

Wonder what ever happened to Officeworks?

Fairly sure we can class this one as complete, now?

Really? Wouldn't that be considerably smaller than their current digs on the mall itself (not to mention far less foot traffic)?Ben wrote:Country Road is moving to where Point Zero was opening in May.

Bendigo Bank signage is now currently being installed

My guess is that they'll keep the Mall store and hive off a section or a few sections (out of Ladies, Mens, Kids (which they don't have in the Mall), Homewares) to Rundle Place.Nathan wrote:Really? The signage on the hoardings says it will stock their full range of Mens, Womans, Kids and Home.

Prime Minister helps Bank reaffirm its commitment to South Australia
Prime Minister Tony Abbott has officially opened Bendigo and Adelaide Bank’s new corporate office in the heart of Adelaide’s CBD.
The Bank is one of Adelaide’s largest employers, with more than 1000 of its staff working from the 80 Grenfell Street office and a further 300 retail staff in its Bendigo Bank branches across the state.
Managing Director Mike Hirst said the launch of the Bank’s new home in Adelaide is a significant investment and an exciting step forward.
“This investment is bigger than a new building. It’s a symbol of our long-term relationship with the people of South Australia,” Mr Hirst said.
“We want them to know South Australia is one of our heartlands. It’s played an important role in determining who we are and will continue to play a part in influencing our future.
“We’ve been part of this state since 1877. We plan to stay and grow and we hope our new home serves as a constant reminder of our contribution to South Australia”.
Mr Hirst added the new building is also an investment in the Bank’s employees.
“We have more than 1300 staff in this state and it’s the time and effort our people put into the customers they serve and communities they work in which has helped us achieve great things together,” he said
The Bank has taken out a long-term lease on the 11-storey office tower, which was developed by Pacific Group and EPC Partners as part of the $300 million Rundle Place development.
Chairman Robert Johanson said the Bank continues to be focussed on creating sustainable success for our customers and communities. And these themes influenced the design and build of the new office.
“Our new Adelaide home has a five-star Green Star design. The building maximises natural light and has incorporated a range of initiatives to reduce energy consumption,” Mr Johanson said.
“We’ve used natural materials and sourced local products for the fit-out wherever possible, ensuring local industries and businesses are supported.
“The design was completed by Adelaide-based architect group Hassell and the construction has already employed more than 3000 South Australians and injected millions into the local economy.
“It will continue to generate employment opportunities, with a significant contingent of staff now accommodated in one central location in Adelaide,” he said.
Mr Hirst thanked the Bank’s staff, customers, shareholders, partners and supporters, and encouraged those not yet banking with the local option to reconsider their choice.
“We’ve been investing in the community and creating a stronger South Australia for more than a century.
“We will continue to do this, but we’d like to do more. This will be possible if more South Australians join those already banking with us,” said Mr Hirst.
“People have come to expect banks to focus on their own success, but we look to create success for all involved in our business.
“We give our customers everything they expect from a big bank, but also many things they thought they could never have. That makes us bigger than a bank,” he said.
“Since 1998, our Bendigo Bank Community Bank® network has returned more than $100 million to support communities right across Australia, with more than $7 million in grants given out in South Australia.
“We sponsor iconic South Australian organisations and events like Adelaide Festival, Helpmann Academy, Power to End Hunger campaign and many other grass-roots initiatives.
“We support Brand South Australia and our staff give in-kind assistance to countless community causes,” added Mr Hirst.
“I’m asking all South Australians to consider joining us to help support and grow this great state.”

For more information on 80 Grenfell Street please visit our website www.bendigoadelaide.com.au.
In February 2014, the Bank opened its new Adelaide home at 80 Grenfell Street, in the heart of the city’s business and retail district.
The purpose-built 11-storey office tower stands 76 metres tall. But what the building stands for is even bigger than that.
This multi-million dollar investment demonstrates the Bank’s ongoing commitment to South Australia, our customers, partners, shareholders and staff.
80 Grenfell Street boasts an innovative five star Green Star architectural design – representing a significant investment in a sustainable South Australia – and features a range of natural materials sourced locally where possible.
The office tower is complemented by an innovative flagship branch, which will set the benchmark for the Bank’s in-branch customer experience.
Key features of our Adelaide building include;
Innovative exterior architectural design
Open plan floors
Central atria to maximise natural light
Underfloor air conditioning for energy efficiency and improved air quality
Vertically integrated floors to encourage greater connectivity
A variety of improved work spaces
Large terrace level, including coffee shop for staff
The new Adelaide headquarters brings together more than 1000 staff from across the Group, including our wholly-owned subsidiary Rural Bank, enhancing a one-team environment and encouraging greater connectivity.
This includes a transition to a new and innovative way of working, with the activity based working concept.
Activity based working is a work concept that will inspire, invigorate and encourage a high performance culture and build stronger relationships with colleagues in a flexible workspace.
It gives employees the ability to easily work individually or in a group, supported by world class building design and the right technology to encourage mobility.
Our Bank is the largest employer in South Australia to adopt this employee-driven practice, a flexible work concept that enables our teams to work more effectively and efficiently to deliver on our customer-connected strategy in an even better way.
Our new home provides more spaces for teamwork and collaboration, fostering greater interaction between people, and allowing staff to choose the workspace that is most appropriate for their task and to suit their work style.

I love the copper alloy looking treatment to the Grenfell Street facade.
Does anyone know if it is actually copper (and will turn green with time) or is it a coloured aluminium panel?

Still dont know what it'd be like working with 'hotdesks'

I believe it's anodised aluminuim. This cladding has been exposed for a slightly shorter period than the copper on Adelaide Oval's Riverbankstand and that is already starting to discolour to green (and looks fantastic too!)bm7500 wrote:I love the copper alloy looking treatment to the Grenfell Street facade.

I swear the cladding on Rundle Place looks less pink (darker) than when it was first exposed (the paper pealed off). It could just be my perception, oxidisation or smog from all the traffic on Grenfell street. Or all three!Pikey wrote:I believe it's anodised aluminuim.
