The front looks great, but that western wall OMG.

Don't forget, that western wall will be completely covered by a wind arbour. You won't see it for much longer!Mr Smith wrote:The front looks great, but that western wall OMG.

Is the wind arbour actually 100% confirmed? I know it was suggested, but havent heard of official confirmation yet.Pikey wrote:Don't forget, that western wall will be completely covered by a wind arbour. Update from Paul..
Thought your members might like to know that Pruszinski Architects will be moving to its new office at levels 6 & 7, 149 Flinders Street at the end of next week.
The wind arbour is definitely happening and is currently being fabricated off-site. There is no way I would leave a western wall looking like that. We are anticipating the 8800 blades will be installed during February. There will also be a horizontal version of it in part of the lobby ceiling, with movement created each time the front door opens. In the next few days our southern facade to the carpark floors will be installed, essentially a metal interpretation of bamboo growing in 3-dimensions. Should be worth a visit down Pulteney Court for a look at something a bit unique
Our new office is far from standard, and is focused around air, light, and trees. The office features an outdoor meeting room (wind and rain protected), as well as other outdoor well protected areas surrounded by plantings for the architects to create our clients' next buildings.

Anymore updates from Paul regarding when he expects the blades to go up on this one?

Here's an update from Paul
Thought S-A members might like to know that after considerable design development and extensive research and testing, we are expecting to receive in coming days the materials to start preparing for the assembly of our western wall wind arbour, some 36,000 pieces of purpose made injection moulded glass reinforced nylon, 600 lengths of purpose extruded aluminium, 19,000 stainless steel bolts, and 9000 aluminium blades. We will be assembling on the ground, and for public safety will be erecting on the western wall each sunday, hopefully in two and a half weeks time. Given the volume of materials, this process is expected to take a considerable number of weeks. At completion only the aluminium blades should be visible.
Also thrilled to announce that we are underway constructing a very unique and sophisticated cafe - Luigi Delicatessen, with Luigi expecting to open his unique offering next month.

^^^ Awesome thanks Howie and Paul. Been looking forward to seeing this final stage.
[COM] Re: UC: 147-151 Flinders Street | 30m | 8lvls | Office
Its been a while now and still got that ugly west elevation with no sign of any wind arbour is it going ahead.
[COM] Re: COM: 147-151 Flinders Street | 30m | 8lvls | Office
Do you see what I see? Test panels for the wind arbor.
[COM] Re: COM: 147-151 Flinders Street | 30m | 8lvls | Office
Something unforeseen must off occurred with the off site fabrication ? As stated above Paul expected the wind arbour to be installed during Feb.
[COM] Re: COM: 147-151 Flinders Street | 30m | 8lvls | Office
I've been waiting for this as well. There is what looks like a test piece for the arbour that can be seen in the photo above (the 6 squares on the horizontal bar) that have been there for awhile now.
Hopefully this progresses soon, as it will look quite spectacular once operational.

Update from Paul Pruszinski
This is going to be epic!
So bring a camera but for safety reasons try to keep some distance from workers.Well after much research and fabrication, the wind blades start going onto the western wall this Sunday. We are anticipating the install taking 5 or 6 sundays to complete (traffic restrictions), but we will be completing each section as we go. We currently have a large number of pre-fabricated units coming off our assembly line on level 3 of the building.
Once we get close to the top a very large sign will be installed unveiling the naming rights for the building, and its not Pruszinski Architects. This may delay completion of the installation slightly.
Thought the S-A members might like to know that Sunday is the day
This is going to be epic!

May have already said this (can't be arsed going back over the forum), but they've just whacked an enormous one of these on two sides of the flagship Debenhams store over here. It's enormous.
It's really spectacular, particularly when the wind picks up. This massive wave pattern moves back and forth in patterns across the entire front and side facade of the building.
Also looks great at night. Hope this one is lit in a similar fashion.

This is going to look brilliant!
Do you think it would somewhat annoying for Paul if now a developer decides to build a similar size building on the Bob Jane site , Blocking the western wall
