The Rundle Mall Development is hideous!

Not going there to shop!

they could have done a bit better to be frank. it is not a good development at all!

how does that in any way affect the quality of the goods available in the shops there, thus affecting your desire to go there to shop?

The goods and services are available elsewhere, without the inconvenience and expense of city parking etc.

That said, the retailers in the mall have been let down badly by the Council and the Rundle Mall Management because the development does not provide a good draw card to bring in more consumers/shoppers. In fact it is shockingly woeful.

"Inconvenience and expense of city parking", really? Clearly you don't travel much, parking prices in Adelaide are very reasonable in comparison to the rest of Australia's capitals. As for inconvenience, I believe Adelaide has the most CBD parking of any Australian capital city.

City parking is something I personally find inconvenient and expensive, and is one of the reasons I rarely shop there.

With the highest number of car parks of any CBD I find inconvenient hard to believe ....... Even expensive is a stretch

I found this table about the price of parking to be quite interesting. Expensive to park in Adelaide my arse.

Firstly YAWN is my response to Adelaide parking discussion Secondly the evidence is confirmation of the overstated obvious Adelaide has lots of car parks and they are not that expensive and on that note Case Closed moving back on topic of the thread retail now .......

If I am going to drive somewhere to go to the shops, I don't decide between Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne; I choose between Adelaide CBD, Elizabeth, Tea Tree Plaza, Golden Grove Village and West Lakes. If Rundle Mall wants to remain the premier shopping precinct in SA, it has to compete on something other than "parking is cheaper here than in Melbourne".

I'm work in in the CBD and I will come shopping here over any suburban shopping centre, sure I have to outlay some coin to park, but I can park where I want, it is easy to get to and no driving around looking for a decent undercover park

Also, everything is here, all the shops and most of the stock. If people only go to suburban malls because of the free parking,well I think they are doing themselves a disservice.

Globalize in the former Regent cinema space seems to have been closed. There's an official looking notice on their door, but I couldn't stop to look at the details due to all the pedestrians being squeezed past the paving works.

Globalise has gone into liquidation

Hopefully someone will buy out Gloabilise and reopen otherwise that will be a big empty space. i would say close to 80% of shops in regent arcade are empty at this stage or closing down.

These are everywhere in Melbourne and have been told there coffee roasted by St Ali in Melbourne is one of the best. This will be bad news for Haighs as lots of people were in there buying up chocolates.

I wouldn't worry about Haighs, there's enough room in Adelaide for two in the business specialising in fine chocolates - Haighs do quite well in Koko's territory (Melbourne). Plus, I'd say South Australian's value Haighs more and as a result Haighs will retain their customer loyalty.
