As for Globalise, if the space isn't filled; I'd love to see the re-establishment of the Regent Theatre. Perhaps a state government initiative, but the theatre could be entrusted to the Adelaide Festival Theatre and could serve as a new home for the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, whilst during the Adelaide Fringe be used for some kind of a comedy gala event, as well as popular comedy shows (granted it has a capacity of say 1,500/2,000. Thoughts? :)

That's a bit unfortunate-looking.

That would seriously harm both the David Jones and the Tiffany & Co brands. I hope it's just a joke and not an actual design?

As far as I'm aware, there's nothing much left of the Regent Theatre besides a few bits of the ceiling. It would mean completely re-building a theatre into that space again, and given that they've just spent a lot of time and money demolishing it I doubt they'd want to re-build it.

Frankly it would be/much cheaper and also much better to build an entertainment space in the top 2 (now disused) levels of the Myer Centre.

I agree it looks terrible...hopefully it looks better than that when it's done....although ACC may not approve it anyway...

That is true they made Apple amend their original plans.

I don't think it looks that bad, but I think it doesn't suit and shows up the blandness of ACP facade but my understanding is this will be getting upgraded anyway.

Is the problem that it's just a REALLY BAD render?

Doesn't look photo-realistic at all, and you can't determine what materials the Tiffany façade is made of.

I'm a bit shocked that David Jones or Adelaide Central Plaza would allow their facade to be so diminished. I know it's not a fantastic facade anyway, but at least it's a facade that looks like it was meant to look. With that Tiffany bit tacked onto it, it would look like, well, like a facade with a huge add-on tacked onto it!

If Tiffany&Co want a large and obvious facade, they really should be looking for a space facing onto Rundle Mall where they could just demolish a smallish building and start fresh.

Having said that, the Apple store looked like it was going to completely destroy the Rundle Mall facade of Rundle Place, in the renders. It turned out ok (not great, but ok), so maybe this will too.

Maybe I'm alone but I like the North Terrace facade of David Jones. It's aged well.

However I'm curious to hear more about the refurbishment plans, especially with the Tiffany & Co development.

Rundle Mall wouldn't be suitable for a high end boutique like Tiffany & Co.

I think the facade is ok crawf. The point being that it's ok, not awesome.

My first thought was that they must have started fit-out, and that was a photo of the temporary construction hoarding!
