[COM] Colonial Mutual Building > Mayfair Hotel
[COM] Re: U/R: Colonial Mutual Building > Mayfair Hotel
Just had a thought that this building and that part of the intersection would look 100x better if they removed the awnings.

I think I'd agree. It's just so heavy as is.metro wrote:Just had a thought that this building and that part of the intersection would look 100x better if they removed the awnings.

Just go to WEST Wyalong (NSW) to see what 'heavy' is about. I think the awnings are in period with the BLDG and should stay but painted up again.

Uh, where have you been? This has been the going render since it was proposed, it's months from completion; won't get changed. It's meant to look like a jewelry box.MessiahAndrw wrote:What's up with that ugly facade?kingy wrote:The renders from that article:

Currently the crosshatch design of the 'jewelery box' can be seen poking above the tarps. The exterior may be close to completion, or maybe just the top part.

I like the little cube shape, and that its facade goes around the structure and down the lane it makes a refreshing change from the pebble-Crete and fake sandstone used in many of Adelaide's buildings

Hi,
I have noticed that there has been no external work on this building lately.
how is this hotel progressing?
when is the current expected completion date?
Cheers.

There has been external work if you look closely.
The hotel has been progressing as it should be.

The tarp on the jewel box extension has been pulled down / fallen down revealing more of the external treatment. I'm never quick enough to snap a useful photo.
Not sure if it looks good or not...
