News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines
Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines
I noticed that there are new video screens inside the airport - they look good.
There's one up high in the area before you pass thru security.
Also I think Subway will be a good addition. It's all coming along well.

I notice that the Airport carpark has stopped offering 10min of free parking. I guess Airport management figured out that drivers were using the 10min free period to drop their passengers off without a rush and on the departures level rather than use that awful pick up/drop off zone.

Further to my post yesterday, Singapore Airlines Adelaide office confirmed only 1 flight per day from Aug 18. (Down from 2 on 5 days per week). I also saw a story interstate that they are reducing seats into Sydney and Melbourne.

I would gamble that there still is a 10 minute grace period, it's standard thing in carparks to avoid complaints from people who come in but decide not to stay. Even if not advertised.metro wrote:I notice that the Airport carpark has stopped offering 10min of free parking. Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines
Here's that story. Reducing to one A380 per day through Sydney (from two) and no A380 through Melbourne (down from one). Still the same number of daily flights to both cities, but all to be operated by 777s apart from the one A380.markleslie wrote:I also saw a story interstate that they are reducing seats into Sydney and Melbourne.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines
Does anybody know why? I thought demand was good on those services due to people from my office saying the flights were 80-90 percent full. Maybe it was just those flights haha.... Is there an equipment change or anything?Stefan P wrote:Singapore Airlines from 11/8/14 to 21/11/14 will go down to 7 flights a week, 8 weekly from 22/11/14, 10 a week from 1/12/14. Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines
Apparently they will only be run during the summer months for seasonal travel. People have also moved to other carriers like Emirates and Air Asia for travels to Europe and Asia respectively.
Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines
I was on a Qantas flight from Sydney yesterday and surprised to be on a plane with 3 sections with seating 2-3-2 like an international jet. i think it was a 767. there was a large amount of asian students on the flight in uniforms so maybe this was a one off.
Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines
Yep, it was a 767-300, looks to have been a one-off.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines
Has anyone heard any more about the new proposed hotel at the airport? I think they advertised an expression of interest looking for an operator (ie Novotel, Holiday Inn etc)... But I haven't heard if any operator applied or was chosen...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines
The next Master Plan may give us some clues about that. It's due in December, so public consultation on the draft will probably happen reasonably soon.how good is he wrote:Has anyone heard any more about the new proposed hotel at the airport? Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines
Hey guys, first time post!
While at the airport the other day I noticed a change to the road network and the beginning of construction at the southern end of the terminal, where the staff car park stood previously. Could this be the beginning of an extension to the southern end of the terminal?

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines
Hi Adsta. Welcome.
The construction you speak of is actually an extension to the aircraft parking apron. Media release here.
Whilst the airport is doing very well with passenger growth, I think an extension of the terminal is still likely to be a number of years away.
