I've thought this, too. Would it be wrong if we intentionally wrote about a new development on say, Hindley St, where all the facts are completely fictious, just to see if it gets published elsewhere as a fact? :P

Mr Ferraro said the Grenfell St pedestrian crossing should be widened or moved to funnel pedestrians into Regent Arcade as well as Adelaide Arcade.
knowing the Adelaide council they'll reduce the width of the pedestrian crossing in front of Adelaide Arcade, just like they did in front of the Art Gallery..

It's not a proposal to re-build the main Regent cinema. It's a conversion of the old cinemas 2 & 3 (towards the southern end of the arcade) into four gold class cinemas. Previously discussed here (with renders).

Thank you for clarifying this. However, I was sure they demolished these cinemas a year or two after they closed?

Regardless, I'd say it's a bit ambitious that the property owners feel four GOLD CLASS cinemas will improve foot-traffic, like the property owners of Rundle Mall Plaza, or Tiffany and Co - they forget that Adelaide isn't a city of expensive tastes (unless you reside in Burnside and surrounding areas).

I'm still an advocate of a 6/7-screen cinema complex in the top two floors of the Myer Centre. Upper level cinemas have worked in Brisbane's Myer Centre and Melbourne Central. Perfect opportunity for any of the four major cinema chains to expand their brand in Adelaide. Unlike the Hindley Street cinemas or the Academy cinemas on Hindmarsh; the Myer Centre is in the mall (central location to foot-traffic), cafes and restaurants within the building, and the cinemas would be fresh and modern, this would also improve foot-traffic volumes in the centre as well. Also, a perfect opportunity to rally for more film premiers.

As for Regent, I'm more of an advocate of restoring the original theatre (which still has has it's main structural requirements). If restored, it could be entrusted to the Adelaide Festival Theatre (like Her Majesties Theatre), be used for the Fringe and Cabaret Festivals, and other major events (comedy, music, film), seat 1,500 people, and become the new home for the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra (a more central replacement for their current home Granger Studios on Hindley). Such an investment would see another form of revenue for the arcade and would also open up the opportunity for later trading hours in the arcade for cafes and restaurants.

Not sure whether this should go here or in the 2 KWS thread (which is technically only for the rooftop bar), but anyway... Latest update on Jamie's Italian. This looks extremely promising... (some great interior renders in the body of the article).
Adelaide’s Jamie’s Italian restaurant to be the grandest and most luxurious of them all

ADELAIDE’S Jamie’s Italian restaurant is set to be the chain’s “most luxurious” in Australia — in keeping with the grandeur of the former Westpac bank site.

Work is well underway to redeem the faded grandeur of the site, at 2 King William St, rendering it the “most luxurious, grandest and most unique” of all the Australian Jamie Oliver sites.

Developers are tight-lipped about the project, but confirm the budget is expected to far outpace the Jamie’s Italian restaurants already open in Sydney, Canberra and Perth, as well as Brisbane, which is due to open early next year.

continues...

Asian fast food joint Bing Boys is opening up next door to Subway on Rundle Street. Pressed Juices has also opened up at 231 Rundle Street in what used to be a handbag store.

Interesting. That's the corner of Lindes Lane (the dead lane alongside Rundle Place, with just the car park access at the end).

A welcome addition! Glad to see there's a few more food and beverage outlets popping up along Rundle Mall now. :)

Salad Choice in Myer Centre's Food Underground has just closed recently this week.
I suppose this had to occur, given to that kind of planet we live on...
For starters, my avatar is the well-known Adelaide Aquatic Centre insignia from 1989.

You mean the kind of planet where three salad places in one food court is too many so two had to close?

I don't often rant but here it goes ... Adelaide needs to get a grip we live in the CBD and on Sunday decided t take a lunchtime stroll t get something to eat Leigh St everything closed, that's ok let's go to HDCB Hindley Street closed Righto I know Peel Street hmmmm closed there is a pattern forming ended up at the Coopers Alehouse .... I will give Leigh St some credit there were 3 very lonely food vans. As a resident I get bombarded with vibrant, vibrancy and every derivative there of however there is a resounding closed, shut back on Monday attitude. We would have expected a little more of an open attitude especially with a mid afternoon football game which answered an earlier observation of people walking in circles and they were doing this as they had nowhere to go .... Rant over
