More accolades for the Riverbank bridge - design principles and a set of photos in World Landscape Architect.

'Must visit' destination...
Beauty of the bridge arc...
Integrated water feature ... Illuminating the Riverbank precinct at night
Bridge profile clad in white glass...
And notion of 'touching the ground lightly'...

they need to hurry up and pick a better name for this than just 'riverbank footbridge' *yawn*

Could call it the 'ARC Bridge' or 'ARC Footbridge - ARC meaning 'Adelaide River Crossing', and its shaped like an arc. :2cents:

That's sounding a tad too similar to ASER for comfort, given the bridge is slightly repairing the damage done by that project...

I don't know what ASER is but personally I'd support the name 'Arc'.

Adelaide Station and Environs Redevlopment was the Bannon-era project that established much of the built environment of the riverbank precinct. Think the Casino, Intercontinental, old Convention Centre, the Riverside Centre office block and the general alienation of the river from the terrace. All-in-all an example of poor planning that we're only now starting to fix.

That said, Arc (lower case and not acronymous) seems a felicitous nickname to me.

Arc +1
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

Arc is everything a good name for something like this should be. Short, easy to remember, meaningful (in two good ways), unique and modern.

Perfect.

Has this name been put forward to someone who can make it official, or at least to The Advertiser which could encourage public support for it?

anybody know when the old fountain in Torrens will be activated with the lights, as i went past on 3 occasions last night and their was no lights on but then went past again a bit later and the lights were on, looked awesome only to drive past again later and find them not on again, not sure if they were testing them or not but that and the bridge lights really made the Torrens look great all we need now is some huge musical fountains in the Torrens to really make it a tourist attraction and draw card :D

Took this photo a few nights ago from level 15 of the Intercontinental. Quite a nice view :)

Great photo Jaymz

I'm really liking the different lighting effects on the bridge, they had a great sequence of them at the end of the ABC news the other night.

Others have probably posted many shots of this bridge by now but I'm really loving this whole Riverbank Precinct by night. The Adelaide Oval under lights with the new footbridge really goes hand in hand!
