[COM] 413 KWS Vue on King William | 89m | 28Lvl | Residential
[COM] Re: APP: 413 KWS Vue on King William | 89m | 28Lvl | Residen
For those of you too lazy to click the link or who are scrolling past in six months time, trying to find pictures...
This is awesome to see actually happening and basically under construction. What and when was the last building that was actually on this site?
Height seems to breed height in this neck of the woods. The more, the better, I say! Even if this creates a boulevard of tall buildings along the southern half of King William, this will look amazing. As I said somewhere in the Quest building thread, Vue, Quest, Optus and the Credit Union SA buildings are all making this vision happen.

Used to be a petrol station and a dinky little lunch bar on the site.Phantom wrote:What and when was the last building that was actually on this site?

Yep. Adding to Nathan's response, they were torn down in 2008. You can still see their ugliness if you go onto "historic" street view. In fact, none of our little southern skyline existed in that image except the lonely Optus building. Looks like the Credit Union was about to start construction though.Nathan wrote:Used to be a petrol station and a dinky little lunch bar on the site.Phantom wrote:What and when was the last building that was actually on this site?
So fantastic to see this go ahead. Discounting the ANZ spire, this will be the tallest thing to have gone up in Adelaide in almost 25 years. I've already made it known how much I loathe that carpark that's behind the site and I can't wait for it to be hidden away from KWS. Exciting times ahead.

So it is - It really did look shithouse before...
It's a pretty ugly carpark. The ones without outside walls generally are, though.

I work in the building on the other side of that ugly car park. I can't believe how much the area has changed in 6 years!

Last week the site was drained of water and soil testing was completed, and today the scaffolding has been installed and removal of all waste material will be conducted.
Tomorrow is the official ‘ground breaking’ ceremony, which will be attended by Jay Weatherill and the directors of Ironfish, Starfish, APG and the media.

A year to the day from when they announced that they had acquired the site. Have we ever had a project of this scale move so quickly?cmafra wrote:Tomorrow is the official ‘ground breaking’ ceremony, which will be attended by Jay Weatherill and the directors of Ironfish, Starfish, APG and the media.

epic!
This will surely cement S-KWS as a skyline in its own right, all be it a small one. Hopefully more to come in this area. When is expected completion?

Completion would be the end of 2016 I would imagine.

Just saw on Ten News that today was the official ceremony to mark the start of construction.

I am going to go a bit off topic here but I saw this interesting graph on tv last night.
It shows how foreign investors (mainly chinese I would imagine) are increasing the number of new
dwellings in Australia. Without foreign investors the number of new dwellings would be stagnant.
It's good for Adelaide as we seems to have many proposals / projects on the go at the moment. I think
it's fair to say that there's a lot of foreign investment locally, since there is mini boom in apartment projects and
we are not experiencing a boom with the economy.

At this stage they are saying June 2016 although apparently they see this as a very conservative date and hopeful to finish earlier.ghs wrote:Completion would be the end of 2016 I would imagine.
