Sir William Goodman Bridge restoration (pdf)
via Charles Sturt Council:
The refurbishment of Sir William Goodman Bridge will restore a valued local heritage structure and key pedestrian/cycle link between the suburbs of Thebarton and Hindmarsh. The intention is to recover the heritage qualities of the bridge, improve the northern and southern approaches to the bridge and ensure safety for all users.
...
William Goodman Bridge crosses the River Torrens connecting the suburbs of Thebarton, to the south, and Hindmarsh, to the north. The bridge, located at the termination of Holland Street, links directly through to the intersection of Manton Street and Adam Street at the south east corner of the Adelaide Entertainment Centre complex. This provides an important pedestrian and cycle link, particularly at peak times of use for the Entertainment Centre and nearby Hindmarsh Stadium.

In addition, the bridge provides users of the River Torrens Linear Park an opportunity to cross from the northern side of the river to the south, re-connecting again with the Linear Park on the western edge of the Brickworks Market site.

BankSA has undergone an overhaul... thoughts?

Image

I liked the old Sturt Desert Pea logo, though it did look quite old and needed a refresh.

Let's forget the fact that BankSA is owned by Westpac...

It's a terrible update that makes them look like a third-teir credit union. It screams design by committee (and it was, done by their internal marketing team with assistance from their ad agencies).

The original was a classic, done by renowned Adelaide studio Ian Kidd Design (business was later sold and is now KSD) in the early 90s following the switch from State Bank (which IKD also did the branding for). The mark itself is still strong and relevant, and perhaps all that needed was a rethink of the typography (Helvetica Black is a little dated) and maybe dropping the holding rectangle around it all (which they did do on some items anyway).

Some of the fluff to justify it:
"Mr Reade said the bank wanted to reflect a positive, action-oriented message.

Mr Reade said the series untapped a lot of momentum in the business community.

At the same time, BankSA surveys found customers felt the bank’s image was looking somewhat formal and dated.

It was not keeping pace with the revitalisation of the state as exemplified by the new Adelaide Oval, SAHMRI and other developments."
The new logo doesn't address any of their goals, looks timid and lacks voice against the larger banks. What it really is is a new CEO coming on board and wanting to make his mark. Sometimes throwing equity in a brand is good (such as the switch from State Bank to Bank SA, since the previous brand was tainted), but in this case it's just throwing the baby out with the bathwater with no proper strategy in place.

Don't even get me started on the new tagline "Let's do this".

Don't like their new logo, looks very cheap and nasty. Should have stuck with the Sturt Desert Pea, from the top of the plant it could make a strong logo symbol, red and black are good bank colours used by both NAB and Westpac. Could have been worse I suppose, they might have used Comic Sans as the font :P

Don't mind the logo itself, think the one they've used on Facebook (blue background and vertical alignment) looks better.

The tagline, I can see where they're coming from, as companies seem to be making them as "short and sweet"as possible. But I don't think it's appropriate for a major bank.
Looking forward to a free-flowing Adelaide!

Their tagline should be Bank SA: Heaps Good.

Seriously though, did this just change today? I bank with Bank SA and only noticed it today when I went to use an ATM.

A bit of a shame - it looks very cheap. I know change is difficult but it's a pity to lose the sturt desert pea.

Just a reminder of how strong the old mark was:
