[COM] Re: #U/C: Victoria Square Upgrade - $24m
It's also misunderstanding the councils role (in Hindley St at least). As I understand it, it was project managed by UniSA, with the council, state and fed governments contributing $1m each. Of course that doesn't stop the rag and some mayoral candidates (Hease) lining up to sink the boot in.
[COM] Re: #U/C: Victoria Square Upgrade - $24m
I've driven and cycled this section of Hindley (and victoria square) many times since it was completed and during rain, never had any problem and it didn't feel slippery at all doing 40 in the car, and I was pedaling quite fast on a bike when I cycled through there. I think the council should just put up the 'slippery when wet' signs, it really should be up to the drivers to drive sensibly for the conditions they are in, and drive more cautiously for a paved shared zone!

I never said it was his fault. It's just these sorts of things are what sink campaigns. It's about the image it puts across. One of the main streets of Adelaide is now at walking pace & it's looking like Vic could be following suit.

They'll easily fix the problem by scuffing up the surface. It won't look as good, but it'll do the job.JamesXander wrote:I never said it was his fault. i drove down this stretch the other day in the dry and accelerated (not aggressively) and the back tyres lost traction (and my tyres are stickier than what most cars would have). can only imagine how poor traction would be when wet.

oh hai.
Does anyone know when the next stage of the upgrade is scheduled? Is "squaring off the square" apart of this?

Repeat the above. When is the next stage to commence?
The masterplan image has disappeared from the ACC website. They still list a few things here http://adelaideparklands.com.au/parks-a ... ster-plan/
I really hope they just redo the South bit and leave all the road alignments alone.

*Looks at Dyson Airblade Factory* "I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit, it's the only way to be sure"

I think it's been said that it's a decision for the next council, so it probably all hinges on the coming council election.

Played totem tennis next to the tram stop last Friday, it was actually great free fun.

Will these casual daytime events like totem tennis, video games, food trucks etc.. stop if someone like Hamilton or Haese become Mayor?ChillyPhilly wrote:Played totem tennis next to the tram stop last Friday, it was actually great free fun.

Probably. Their idea of fun is just to sit on the grass and look at the trees.

I'd be tempted to kick around a football/soccer ball, but I can imagine one of my mates kicking it too hard and hitting a nearby car.

I don't get it, how old is this picture?Phantom wrote:From the ABC Website - Credit to artist Richard Maurovic

I think the page was dated within the last two weeks. In saying that, the artist may've used a template picture from a while back, seeing as the Quest building isn't up alongside the Optus building.
The one thing I've noticed in the pictures are the two straight/turning lanes from King William St heading soundbound turning onto Grote St. I'm sure that would cause a few crashes.
