[COM] Re: #COM: Westfield West Lakes Expansion | $95m
Ooooh! It's not often I get excited about a new specialty shop opening, but YAY!!!
[COM] Re: #COM: Westfield West Lakes Expansion | $95m
Recent developments around the mall-
Rebel Sport has undergone a large expansion which was completed this week, now with the new logo.
Shoe Shed to open in former Go-Lo site (next to recently opened Lowes), 'Kung-Fu Express' to open as a re-branded 'Gourmet House Dumplings' taking up the old Subway site as well, A Sushi Train type store and All Round Body Wellness (Seems like another massage service) opening off the Coles market court area, Menswear shop Connor relocating to former Globalize store off the food court. Work on San Churros currently underway.
Man to Man didn't last a year in the newly constructed mall (closed a few months ago). Gauchi hair and beauty and Sea Shanty in the food court are now closed and currently have hoarding.

I'm amazed Sea Shanty lasted as long as it did. The food wasn't bad, but the service was shall we say "working class", to put it as nicely as I can!
It would be nice to see a Salsas in the food court. As food court outlets go, it's one of the better ones.

Hungry Jack's might be better here. BTW, I wonder if they'll be phasing out its Kids' Club Meals soon.pushbutton wrote:I'm amazed Sea Shanty lasted as long as it did. The food wasn't bad, but the service was shall we say "working class", to put it as nicely as I can!

And where did the Fun Works Lolly Shop go?
I looked around months ago but couldn't find it.

What makes you think HJs might phase out kids club meals Scooter guy?
I can't see them doing that anymore than I can see them phasing out the Whopper!

McDonald's is another possibility of course. Yes you can just walk a short distance to the one outside but that didn't stop them at Tea Tree Plaza.
West Lakes is the only Westfield in SA without a McDonald's in the food court.

Children shouldn't get greedy over sweet stuff these days!

Sweetaholic used to have a few but now there's only one at Elizabeth.

I think the supermarkets have come in and started selling some of the stuff the imported lolly shops used to sell but at a more realistic price, and so alot of these lolly places have closed up.
For example, most of these lolly shops usually charges around $2.50-$3.50 for a can of Dr Pepper, or about $30/dozen. Some Foodland's sell these cans for $2/can or $20/dozen, and last weekend the Coles at Churchill Centre has Dr Pepper on special for $1.55/can.

Have you heard of 'Graham Crackers'? Sweetaholic Elizabeth have them which are branded 'First Street' & 'Honey Maid'.Brucetiki wrote:I think the supermarkets have come in and started selling some of the stuff the imported lolly shops used to sell but at a more realistic price, and so alot of these lolly places have closed up.

And they make traditional S'mores when you place a piece of chocolate and a marshmallow between them!

I was at Westfield Marion today and am pleased to report that the Funworks sweet shop is still where it's been all along, and still trading. No sign of it closing down anytime soon either.
