News & Discussion: CBD Retail
Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail
A sign has gone up on the now closed Ozmosis store...
"Good things come to those who wait... The Leather Collection coming soon".
Also Adelaide Central Plaza upgrade is continuing.... Connor has vacated, Cue is currently being fitted out in its place, Veronika Maine will then go where Cue was. Veronika Maine's old site has been hoarded up and works going on inside.
Works are also going on inside the old Supre store. This is a massive site. Looking forward to what they do with the place. Can't be worse than a Supre

Despite the store on Gawler Pl being a couple of months old, Henry Bucks are unfortunately closing their doors.
For starters, my avatar is the well-known Adelaide Aquatic Centre insignia from 1989.

It was only ever temporary anyway, hence the lack of a proper fit out.
Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail
when I was in town this evening I noticed Mövenpick, an international swiss ice-cream store on the corner of Leigh and Hindley streets, must have only opened very recently.

I really loathe this obsession with sticking the word "gourmet" in front of everything.

That's one of the things I really noticed when I moved over from the UK several years ago.Matt wrote:I really loathe this obsession with sticking the word "gourmet" in front of everything.
Until I came here I'd only really ever heard the word used was in the advertising of cat food.
No jokes about the quality of food in the UK please

Mentioned this a few posts before. What do you make of the location? I thought it was a bit of an odd choice.metro wrote:when I was in town this evening I noticed Mövenpick, an international swiss ice-cream store on the corner of Leigh and Hindley streets, must have only opened very recently.

Even the berries at the centre of the Hepatitis A scandal are "gourmet".
They're JUST frozen berries! For the love of god!

Speaking of 'gourmet', Gourmet Glaze are on the move again. Back to the corner of City Cross and Grenfell Street - this time on th other side, just across from Hungry Jacks.

Connor has signage up on the old Ozmosis store now. Bit surprised as the site seems a bit fancy for them. Good to have it filled, however.

So that's why they have been superficially tarting it up?AtD wrote:Half page ad in today's ARF: The Myer Centre is up for sale - the whole thing, office, retail and car park. Fully occupied gross rent is $20m pa.
Exit on the right in the direction of travel.

The documents for the Eklipse was a bit light on in detial on the retial redevelopment. I wonder if they are increasing space to allow for a large international like TopShop, Zara etc as there is no space at present. This would be perfect opportunity.

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail
That would be great for the mall it it were a TopShop, not so for me or any others that will have to spend hours waiting around inside.
It seems there has been a healthy influx of these stores. Tiffanys, Apple and Victoria's Secret have moved in, I wonder how viable they are in Adelaide. For anyone who's been to any of the big Asian cities and seen how big their consumer markets, it would be agreeable that with more and more tourists/residents from these regions coming to Adelaide, the retail development will strengthen.
As for Rundle Plaza, I feel like they were originally pitching for more upscale tenants than what they have. Is this correct?
