Hindley St west is 90% re-bitumened as if this morning. Right on top of the old pavers. What a waste.

It's not (supposed to be) bitumen , it's a non-slip rubber coat?

Whatever it is, you can't see paver anymore.

treated on left vs untreated on right.

Cars have been having traction issues with the new surface since it's installation.

They've been spraying the surface with this liquefied rubber for the last few months, must've given up and put bitumen down instead.

Fresh renders of the Great Hall available at http://www.unisa.edu.au/Campus-Faciliti ... reat-Hall/

Demolotion of City West Childcare is to start in the coming months and will be relocated to the former Suzuki warehouse lot on Waymouth St.

Quite different height wise compared to earlier concept (below). I'm guessing the student accommodation component has been abandoned. Still excited about how this will turn out given Snøhetta's involvement.

Really underwhelming, considering the original proposal. It looks like something more suited to the Whyalla campus.

Oh, c'mon! Really? How many other genuinely shit proposals make it past the DAC each year...

Calling this underwhelming would have made your point, but "really underwhelming" makes this project sound like a dog's breakfast... There's really nothing wrong with it, I think it's something fresh for the area to go along-side the J.S. building.

Whilst it might lack height, I do not think this will underwhelm. Snøhetta are currently in a "can't do anything wrong" phase, and I see no reason why their first effort in Australia will break their run.

I'm sorry for having an opinion, but I can't help finding a 1 level inverted triangle with grass on the walls exciting.

Unless I'm interpreting the first "scale" renders incorrectly, I'd suggest this new inverted triangle is the first stage of this development. (the grey roofed building close to Hindley Street)

I wouldn't be surprised if the tower is still part of the future plans for the area.
Walking on over....

Pretty sure there's more to the building than what you can see in those renders, given it will contain:
— A large multi-purpose hall for graduations and additional events
— Multi-purpose playing courts for many sports including basketball, netball and indoor soccer
— Fitness Centre incorporating a weights room and exercise equipment
— Swimming pool
— Public art and exhibition space.

No way can a "1 level inverted triangle" accommodate all that on that size lot.
