I must have missed it - but the facade to an old building in Vardon Ave is being done up.

The property is right next to the Stag and has in the past been used as a fringe venue. i'm just curious to see what they are doing?

It's going to be a whisk(e)y bar.

A nice fit for the area.

Not that I can drink, or even smell, whiskey without having horrible flashbacks to an unfortunate incident when I was about 16 and presumed you could drink spirits in beer-sized quantities...

The foyer and restaurant is getting refurbished.
Enough with interior upgrades. The Hilton and InterContinental desperately need exterior face-lifts - considering how lush Melbourne's South Wharf Hilton and Collins Street InterContinental are you'd think that a little more $ could be invested to improve Adelaide's two hotels. Particularly the InterContinental, if the government are serious about the Riverbank precinct looking any good - they need to push works to be undergone at IC.

I'd say there is going to be some work done soon, probably not on the higher levels though.

In conjunction with the Festival Plaza redevelopment and the Adelaide Casino expansion. The Intercontinental's delivery bay is going to be moved underground, which could potentially open up the opportunity for a revamp of the lower section of the hotel.

The Hilton needs to be bulldozed and start again.

Not sure if posted elsewhere in S-A already, but this large parcel of land is up for sale. Potential plus!

11-27 Frome Street & 12-18 Synagogue Place. 4000sqm, 500 car parks.

Includes the car park at rear, and 59m of Frome St frontage (including the Howling Owl Cafe, Rhino Room, Urban Cow Studio)

Fantastic spot for high-rise apartments.
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

Expect a residential high rise proposal.

Sounds promising, great location.

Is the Rhino Room building heritage listed?

I must protest to any such plans for this site that don't retain the Rhino Room as a live music facility. It's one of the few decent place left in the east end and Adelaide as a whole, we should be trying to improve this aspect of Adelaide not further destroy it - particularly now with HQ closing. If any proposal for the site can't cater for the Rhino room facility and the noise it contributes to the immediate are then buyers should look elsewhere.

If someone wants to build flash apartments on Frome Street, might I suggest the other car-parks across from the Majestic Hotel which is also for sale.

Agree with this. It's a quirky venue, which brings something different to the city.

I hope the plans are more focused on the low rise building and carpark. It's a pretty big site!

Anyone know what is going on with DAC? Meeting minutes/agenda haven't been updated since 26th March. Just a case of nothing being submitted? Not totally sure how it works. Cheers

I emailed them 2 weeks ago because of this issue and still have not heard back. Very disappointing especially given their obligations to give the public notification.
