A few pics from today. The Dan Murphy's store is very impressive. A lot of space, great floor and overall set up. Even room for trolleys in cold room.

Meanwhile there is an existing Dan Murphys 3km nearby...

Future Dan Murphy's locations could include:
Salisbury
Seaford (could be built on the former Red Rooster site if landlord opted to consider redevelopment)
Modbury
Prospect (could be built next to ether Northpark or Sefton Plaza)
Kilkenny (could be built outside of Arndale, preferably on Red Rooster site)

Saw a Big W truck making a delivery here earlier today, must be getting close to opening if stock is being delivered. Also noticed the Woolworths sign inside the mall is lit up at night. Looks like it will be much nicer then the Churchill Centre.

Churchill Centre is okay, but feels cold and cheap inside. I'd rather both of these places have underground parking Churchill Centre has a sea of carparks between Churchill Rd and the actual shops, not good for pedestrians and people arriving on buses. Brickworks slightly better for pedestrians, buses stop 8 needs to be moved closer to Ashwin Pde. Hopefully both get an Aldi store in the future. It's good to see two brand new centres in Adelaide and only 7km apart. To all the people who whinge about the Dan's being to close to Welland it's 3.4km, the Norwood and St Peters stores are only 1.6km apart then there's the Marden store another 2km or so down the road. The closest Woolies to Brickworks is Hilton nearly 3km away.

I don't think many people going to the Churchill Centre will be walking or catching a bus there unfortunately.

Went there for the first time yesterday. Didn't mind it. Reasonably functional FWIW. Looks like the entrance/petrol stations will need to be reconsidered in the medium-long term though.Norman wrote:I don't think many people going to the Churchill Centre will be walking or catching a bus there unfortunately.

I keep hearing different stories. Will the brickworks have any actual market stalls anymore?
What will be in the heritage buildings?
I remember a guy years ago saying they couldn't even run a phone line into one of the buildings because of heritage restrictions. I wonder if they have got around these restrictions now.

The new mall looks really nice, the Big W looks like a target. The north end which has some food places / restaurants faces the old kiln, it looks like the old building will be used for something since they made a dining area facing it. It's much nicer then the Churchill Centre.

I visited last night and was thoroughly impressed. It's a nice fitout and the food offerings really are next level for a shopping centre. Lots of restaurants (some still being constructed). The Tony and marks store and attached restaurant/café is amazing. I would be very happy to have this as my local (except I'm closer to Castle plaza which is actually disgusting compared to this.)
