Right, that's what i figured. I just thought there might be some old airport red tape issues still around.

There's always airport related red-tape, but those don't tend to translate to height restrictions.Capac wrote:Ben wrote:Demand.Capac wrote:so what's stopping this from being upgraded to 40 stories? I thought there weren't any height restrictions in this part of the CBD these days.

At 153m, surely they'd have to replace the radar equipment atop Westpac House and install new radar equipment atop this building.
Would definetly be in breach of OLS. Thus referral to AAL is required. However, not sure if it would be in breach of PANS-OPS? Methinks that they've already sounded out CASA for the 40 level proposal (hence why they've mentioned it's part of design), but are just leaving it to market forces to determine demand - hence lower 30 level proposal (for now).

Also could it be possible it's more likely for developers to get a variation approval for such height increase once original approval have been given? Wouldn't have thought so but .......?
You would have though Starfish would have put in an application for a height/apartment increase given how incredibly fast Vue sold out

Look at the history of the site... People got too excited too quickly. Just because they locked in an hotel chain and a state minister said he was confident it'll go up doesn't really stand for much anymore. Dare I say it, but I don't think this will progress quickly enough to catch the apartment boom in the CBD.

This development is currently on PARK HOTEL GROUP's website as coming in 2018! They'd better get cracking soon!

I would guess that's their intended completion - doesn't make sense for them to be marketing a commencement date.wilkiebarkid wrote:This development is currently on PARK HOTEL GROUP's website as coming in 2018! They'd better get cracking soon!

Never said anything about construction timing. They are promoting the fact that the Hotel will be ready for occupation in 2018! therefore they had better get a move on if they are to complete such a large development by then.AG wrote:I would guess that's their intended completion - doesn't make sense for them to be marketing a commencement date.wilkiebarkid wrote:This development is currently on PARK HOTEL GROUP's website as coming in 2018! On TV last night I saw a story about China constructing a 30 storey tower to completion in 2 weeks, so what is the problem?wilkiebarkid wrote:Never said anything about construction timing. Now that is frightening. I don't think I would like to stay in that building.claybro wrote:On TV last night I saw a story about China constructing a 30 storey tower to completion in 2 weeks, so what is the problem?

They aren't constructed in 2 weeks, they're assembled form pre cast sections in 2 weeksclaybro wrote:Now that is frightening. Lots of repetition around the building, pre-cast and pre-fabricating does speed up construction times a lot. As does not having unions, strict safety procedures... I'd like to see this done for a building with lots of irregularities.claybro wrote:
