[COM] Re: Rundle Mall Redevelopment | $30m
Taken on 5 September.
While taking these I realised why the poles were installed: they are for the buildings that refused having wall brackets installed!

You must have missed all the discussion about this on here over the past few months.ChillyPhilly wrote:While taking these I realised why the poles were installed: they are for the buildings that refused having wall brackets installed!
Exit on the right in the direction of travel.

It looks absolutely ghastly.
I give this 5 years tops before it gets all taken down again.

Having now seen Chilly's pictures. It makes me realise that not only could have the poles been shorter but if there were two they could have come right to the end of the mall..

I agree with Shuz, doesn't look good. Looks like something from the 1980's.
[COM] Re: Rundle Mall Redevelopment | $30m
The whole thing could be so much better if they just made better use of those bloody poles...
I hope they're not the finished product. No thought of turning a negative into something visually appealing.

Again, will remain optimistic until it's finished, but...
...those poles really are hideous.

I hate those grandstand seats. I do miss the permanent stores in the middle like the visitor centre, greengrocer, restaurants. Rundle Mall needs a fruit and vegetable store or maybe a open air market . we should also do a light show displays on the buildings . there should also be garden boxes to give the mall some nature . could even be a mini zoo for the kids to enjoy

Quick question...could they not have put more poles, but thinner and less visuaully 'offensive', right up against buildings and hung their wires/lights from there?

I was reading an article in the Advertiser before. There are 16 "crossover" points that are capable of holding decorations and all have power supply. There is talk of lighting up the mall in different colours for events, (Rainbow for feast festival) cue gasps, blues for winter amongst other things. The mall management have also spent $500,000 on Christmas decorations for this year. I look forward to seeing it with that budget and the power supplies and ability to "hang" it could look quite magical.

That's a good idea, if done in conjuction with festivals..to promote those festivals.Ben wrote:I was reading an article in the Advertiser before. Probably wouldn't be structurally sound if they were too thin.rev wrote:Quick question...could they not have put more poles, but thinner and less visuaully 'offensive', right up against buildings and hung their wires/lights from there?

You do realise that what you've suggested is basically: "let's bring back to old mall".Eurostar wrote:I hate those grandstand seats.
