Not sure if it's related to the slowness but I hear the occasional rumour there might be another floor to be added to this...

I agree Patrick. I wonder how far behind program they must be?

This isn't even slow, it's barely happening. Seriously, why is it taking so long? I get the size of the building is one factor, but even still one/two floors in the space of two months?EBG wrote:Slow but steady progress. Now working on second level above ground as at last Sunday 13 Sept 15.

Actually, the core is 4-5 floors up now. Second floor above ground plus two basement levels is 4 levels.

Some pictures from the northern side (railway) side, taken 19 Sept 2015. Some precast 3 story columns have been added on the southern side (North Tce) at the western end. I think the pace will pick soon once the lower floors are finished.

Another white column has been installed on the North Tce side at the east end near the lift core . This column is leaning at an angle towards the lift tower. Could not stop in the traffic for a picture.

Here is a picture of the column on the south east side, taken 13 Oct 15. Also the second crane will need to increase its height soon to clear the lift core.

Not sure if it belongs in this thread or not but there was an article on The Australian website on 9th October (which I read at the time but for some reason can't access now as I'm 'not a subscriber') reporting that the University of Adelaide is planning to sell its Thebarton campus to fund this development. That's quite a sizeable chunk of land with a few interesting buildings...
Here's the URL if anyone can open it:

The Group of Eight’s prestigious University of Adelaide is planning to sell its Thebarton campus to fund its $130 million medical and dental building which is under construction.
But critics say the city fringe site, the home to engineering, should be retained and redeveloped by the university.
The 4ha area is close to the medical construction site. The campus has 28 buildings and houses an heritage $5m wind tunnel which cannot easily be dismantled. Several buildings are leased to commercial businesses.
One engineering staff member, who declined to be named, said the university spent hundreds of thousands of dollars annually to lease city office space for backroom operations when it could construct a multi-storey building at Thebarton instead.
He also questioned where the department would go if the site was sold. “With such a small existing campus on North Terrace there’s no way they could host us all there,” he said.
“It’s shortsighted, we’re the closest campus to the largest hospital development in the country.”
School of Mechanical Engineering head Bassam Dally said university managers had said they would not be left in the lurch.
“I expressed concern to the university and we received assurances that the school’s needs would be attended to if the sale happens,” Professor Dally said. Colliers International confirmed it would place the campus on the market early next year.
A university spokeswoman said a review was under way which could also see the sale of a piece of land at its Waite agricultural campus. The institution regularly reviewed its properties and had acquired and divested facilities, with revenue supporting “strategic initiatives”, she said.
The university earlier this year sold a city carpark and neighbouring building for $25m, along with the building which houses its community radio station, Radio Adelaide. Many of the station’s paid workers and its 350 volunteers fear the university will not be able to find a new home for the studios by the time they are evicted next year.
“Some of the properties identified for divestment, located on North Terrace, have now been sold and the university is currently working with staff and affiliate groups on alternative accommodation solutions,” the spokeswoman said.
One senior academic, who did not want to be named, said the fire sales were under way because the university’s ultra-conservative council wanted to use cash reserves to fund the new building and not rely on borrowings, despite low interest rates.
The previous federal government committed $60m to the medical and dental building project in 2013, but academics have said the funding shortfall amounts to about $50m.
In 2011 the university’s decision to sell farming land bequeathed to the institution to train agriculture students attracted public outrage. The sales of Munduney Station and Martindale Farm reaped more than $34m.
