Agree with the Singapore super-tree similarity. Interesting that Lord Major Haese has these as his Facebook profile background . Nothing local worthy as a background image Mr Haese
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

interesting photo of the town hall lit up...special event was it? When I walked past about 10pm last Friday night it was in darkness and the area of the footpath under the porch was really dark and creepy. It should be lit like that at all times, for safety and appearance.

This is Sky City's application for its new hotel to go before DAC on 21 January. Let's hope the considerations on Page 14-21 of this application also apply to the high-rise office building proposed for the plaza on Station Road. None of the current renders for it suggest this, but it's early days.

I am not sure if this is the right forum for this picture . The play house is under going some external renovations .(or maybe it is some new art work involving building wrapping?) PS they have ruined the top of the AMP building. very tacky!

I believe these works are in relation to establishing entrances for both the Festival Theatre and Playhouse on the northern end of the centre in prep for the carpark/plaza works.EBG wrote:I am not sure if this is the right forum for this picture . (Also, agree with you about the AMP building, every element of charm has now left that building)

Great picture from EBG of the riverside aspect of the Festival complex. Wondering who has charge of the landscaping/maintenance surrounding the staircase and water feature between the footbridge and the Playhouse. The selection of plantings seems to be an inappropriate to the sight lines to/from the balconies and installations. The new trees have already started to block views to the river from the bistro terrace. The beautiful art installation on the wall is already fast disappearing, and the plantings around the water feature are overgrown, obliterating the water stream from view, and some have been dead but left in place for some time. This is a major focal point, needing serious planning and maintenance.
[COM] Re: Festival Plaza Redevelopment | $800 million
Regarding the landscaping, I did notice on a recent visit that the eucalypts in front of the main "shell" have grown significantly and now block out the view of this most iconic building from across the river. The trees in front of the building (on the Elder Park front) should be removed, to allow full view of the Festival Centre in what is Adelaide most iconic shot. Would be like Sydney planting gum trees around the base of the opera house.
[COM] Re: Festival Plaza Redevelopment | $800 million
Agree the landscaping of the riverbank steps area needs changing from vegetation to the pitiful little water feature, I also cant believe there is not a little bike ramp for cyclists to wheel their bikes up and down the stairs instead of lifting and carrying, the lift is also very small and it's hard to fit a bike in there.
[COM] Re: Festival Plaza Redevelopment | $800 million
Yes, this landscaping appears to be totally at odds with views of the Festival Complex - from various vantage points, including across the Riverbank, and those all important views from the new bistro and terrace. A mini urban forest blocking views?Honey of a City wrote:Great picture from EBG of the riverside aspect of the Festival complex. And the trees appear to be planted too close to the building foundations?!?!
