Yes the piling machine is the type that digs a trench type wall. Hopefully I can get a picture soon.

I haven't seen the equipment on the Bohem site, however if you're suggesting that the equipment used there is of the same standard, then yes... My theory would apply.Brando wrote:So does your theory apply to the same equipment being used on Bohem apartments?Patrick_27 wrote:With the standard of equipment being used on site at the moment, makes me wonder what kind of cheapskates are running this operation.

Here are some pictures of this site taken 6 Feb 2016. the piling machine digs (literally) rectangular sections just bigger than the reinforcement cages lying on the ground. these sections then form the basement wall around the boundary. Pictures 1. general site, 2. the cutting head of the piling machine .3 completed sections once concreted in.

This looks about right. So they excavate a trench to the required depth and fill the excavation with a bentonite slurry to keep the excavation open. Then they place the rebar cage in the excavation before displacing the slurry with concrete. Once the perimeter walls are completed, the excavation then commences.fishinajar wrote:Pretty sure its piling equipment. I think of the kind that completes the basement walls prior to excavation if that makes any sense. This is just from my observation. Not fact.

As Realstretts stated, the basement is now even deeper. I could not fit it all in one picture. My previous pictures were taken from the street on the Right hand side, where the excavators are parked

The basement is now at least 3 stories deep as at 24 Apr 16. Sorry about the angle of the photo I was balancing my phone on the top of the fence.

An update on the basement work. Footing work is taking place near the bottom of the ramp down. All basement projects like Kent town August tower on south Tce and hotel in Hindley Street could get a bit messy if we have prolonged heavy down pours.

A white crane base installed in the centre of the site. Reinforcing steel mesh for the base is there but yet to be concreted. Probably a couple of weeks away
