Considering the owner of this site owns the corner site next-door and seemingly has no intention to develop it (otherwise he'd have included it in this development) there could (and should) have been a lot more glass on the southern wall.

That's very much untrue. Each floor of the adjacent building is on a separate title meaning many different owners.

Thanks for the clarification Ben.

Either way there should have been more glass. Obviously there needs to be some level of consideration for privacy, but in Adelaide this level of consideration has become ridiculous (as evidenced by the growing number of blank walls). It is the CBD for goodness sake- you can't expect the same level of privacy you would get if you chose to live or base your offices in the suburbs.

Agree. Adelaide is screaming out for more sleek looking glass in the CBD. Would go a long way to modernising our skyline by drowning out the
bland buildings from the 50's, 60's and 70's.

I don't think privacy is the main reason why there are so many blank side walls in recent developments ... It's more to do with the fact that many developments are occurring on sites with relatively narrow street frontages (30 metres or less). As you would want to maximise the street frontage of your proposed building, you then build to the side boundaries where for fire regulations you are not permitted to have any windows.

There doesn't appear to be much site consolidation in the proposed Adelaide developments, which if it occurred would allow more scope for side setbacks and hence side windows.

Seeing as this tower has two more core rises until the final pour for the LMR and formwork removal, the crane will definitely have to rise again. I wouldn't be surprised if that happens over the weekend or early next week.

Great pics by the way too Ben.

The higher this goes the more disappointed I get by its lack of design on the north and south facades. The northern is particularly bad and now this building is obvious from most viewpoints.

Yeah, it's a nice bit of background noise for the skyline but fairly unremarkable itself.

The joys of building 100% to site footprint. With the adjoining titles also being future development sites, and with fireproofing requirements as such, there wasn't much they could do. To be honest I'm surprised somewhat that there is an allowance for perimeter glass on the northern and southern sides.
