Another render similar to Algernon's above but with a bit more 'perspective' to it (courtesy of realestate.com.au advert)

While this would obviously stand out, it is shielded from the western view by Vision and Altitude, soon by Central Adelaide and potentially in the near future by West Franklin and the hotel proposed for the block right on Light Square that will block the northern views from Vision.

We've got to start somewhere with talls in our flat inner city areas so concrete walls are going to be a common sight for some time I'd say.

I'm going to say its flat out ugly and i would be happy to see it shelved. We don't need this and i dare say as the market did last time will show the developers so by not buying.

It's no worse than 115 KWS. If it has 2 blank walls to cover up then so bet it, make it happen. Set a run rate to chase in this town instead of saying no to everything ala the Moranns of this world and having a total wasteland CBD from the 90s.

It's actually not the blank walls I have a problem with it's the main facade. It's a mess. It's ugly. Obviously it's not to my taste but there may be many people that think it's beautiful and could not think of anything better then living in a highrise spaghetti vomit tower over looking a bus station, bitumen carpark and abondanded building... Taste is subjective.

It is so hideous, this shit should be forbidden from any CBD.

Whilst I agree that this wont win any architectural awards, I don't think its as bad as some are suggesting. There are far worse developments out there.

From an aesthetic point of view, I think reason why the design is quite polarising is that there is too much happening on the facade in such a narrow tower. It's barely 15m wide, there doesn't need to be so much design variation on the facade. I think the architects have simply tried too hard with this facade.

The design is already broken up by the white horizontal balconies. If they simplify the appearance, it will look a whole lot better. The designers should be aiming for a sleek, elegant, glassy look on this narrow site, it's all that is needed.

That is possibly the only positive I can find with this one, and even then it is not shielded enough.

I'm pleased to see more 80+ metre proposals becoming the norm, but not when they look like this. Hopefully it falls over and a completely new design is put forward for the site. Otherwise I fear we will be stuck with this one for a very long time to come.

I think you guys are over reacting a little.
This will eventually in time be just another "brick in the wall" as developments around it will drown it out from being so prominent.

Cities aren't regulated in to existence, they're built. Say no to everything and you end up with glorious wire fence bound gravel car parks for nobody to live in.

Maybe a glass facade looks better on a single building. Then when the street is a canyon of glass walls it becomes boring as bat shit and we slap ourselves on our South Aussie backs about how careful we are. :toilet:

I also don't understand the comments regarding what the quality of apartment will be due to the facade and blank walls. Well, when you live in a building you're looking out of it, not at it. This development will have 2 apartments per floor, and you know damn well what you're getting - your view to the West and East won't be built out by a rectangle built 3m from your window because the view wasn't there in the first place.

Live a little guys.

Reminds me of a square pencil like a couple of round pencils in Bris. that are way over the height of surrounding areas. I believe that eventually other buildings will come that reduce the effect of this one - hopefully. Like others have said, not impressed with the front facade at all.

I think every building should be stand-alone acceptable.

I don't buy into the theory that other things will pop up to cover it. If it is ugly then don't let it get built. Developers are going to go as cheap as possible (and fair enough) we need to have some standards!

That photo is also very dated, with Vision and Uno missing from view.

That facade however.... :?

So build for the sake of building ? that is going to end well..

Also say no to "everything" or just the shit? very different.
