2 factors would play a huge influence.
1. Weather - if it continues to be sunnier and drier than expected, they can complete the project sooner.
2. Economics - basically if labour or materials become cheaper, they could hire more workers on site to complete the project sooner. I'm not really well informed of the state of the market at the moment; I'm under the impression its a quite low cost environment at the moment, and it'd be hard to get much lower. But who knows what will happen.

Saw this post on DPTIs Facebook Page for anyone interested in the T2T project:
STAGE 2 OF T2T TRAFFIC SWITCH – TONIGHT
From tonight all right turns from South Road from either direction into Port Road will be banned.
Following this traffic switch, motorists wishing to turn right from South Road into Port Road will need to use the new signalised u-turn facilities near Coglin Street and at Queen Street.
These critical works will allow construction of a new bridge at the South Road intersection with Port Road.

To Llessur, Rev and ChillyPhilly and others please send more pictures. I was coming along South Rd from Regency Rd heading south last Sunday but I lost the plot and grave up at Port Rd . Everyting just ground to halt.

Will try to take a walk round this weekend and see what's going on. It looks really different now - especially as the current (temporary) configuration of South Road is very bendy...EBG wrote:To Llessur, Rev and ChillyPhilly and others please send more pictures. From experience driving thru it in rush hour, seems like it flows a little more smoothly thanks to the extra laneLlessur2002 wrote:Will try to take a walk round this weekend and see what's going on. The last house in the Darlington/Bedford Park section is now being demolished.

I have built an emotional connection with that house; I watched as it stood tall whilst it's neighbours were being torn down, I watched as its owners moved their possessions out, and now I will watch as it's torn to the ground. Which house was this? Any chance of a street view image?Patrick_27 wrote:I have built an emotional connection with that house; I watched as it stood tall whilst it's neighbours were being torn down, I watched as its owners moved their possessions out, and now I will watch as it's torn to the ground. Yes me too. I was wondering if they were ever going to move. They were the last to leave by a few weeks and only moved out a few days before the house was torn down. Defiant to the end perhaps?Patrick_27 wrote:I have built an emotional connection with that house; I watched as it stood tall whilst it's neighbours were being torn down, I watched as its owners moved their possessions out, and now I will watch as it's torn to the ground. A few weeks ago I noticed that there were some balloons on the roof/chimney. One was deflated but the second was U. I wondered if the deflated first one was an F.

I usually only drive along here once a week and it does seem to be moving along at quite a clip - some more houses or structures seem gone each week.
As for the last house standing - well, it doesn't look like the house of the 'angry landlord with arms crossed' from adelaidenow who claimed it would cost $300k to $450k to replace his bog standard 3 bedroom (more like about $120k give or take) so hopefully it was just an old person who didn't want to move rather than someone thinking the government owes them double or triple market value.
