You have take into account the 2 hour time difference between Brisbane and Perth. If you leave Perth at 730am in the morning you arrive in
Brisbane at around 2pm. The 2 flights from Brisbane to Los Angeles both leave in the morning so you then have to stay overnight.

Adelaide could have a flight to LA leaving around 1pm. Travellers from Perth could leave at 630am and then arrive in Adelaide at around 1050am.
It would be a long trip for them but it could be feasible.

An overnight flight is what people probably do then. Leave Perth at 11pm and arrive in Brisbane at 5.30am, with an onward connection.

The flights from Brisbane to LA leave around 1030am. So travellers fly overnight from Perth to Brisbane and arrive at 530am. With an overnight flight most passengers won't sleep that well and then they have to wait about 5 hours to get on a 12 or 13 hour flight to Los Angeles. That's not ideal.

Or they leave Perth a bit later... It doesn't matter, these connections already exist now, and there are at least 3-4 flights between Perth and each of the eastern capitals, so they're is enough choice there.

I swear I saw on Sunday a Qantas 737 take off from runway 30? Can large planes take off from runway 30 ? Very unusual if the case?

They do when the winds are very strong in a certain direction (normally NW). Most planes were taking off on this runway during the recent storms.

I read somewhere that all 777 models can takeoff in a distance of just over 5,000ft, and R30/12 is 5,420ft. I don't think that would be possible though. I would say that the A320 and 737 are the largest aircraft that can take off or land on that runway.

Will we see a response from Emirates to increase frequency? Also any word on an airline from the US starting up and which route would that be?

Probably not at the moment as the market will be to saturated. Emirates has stated that Australia is a priority to make an all-A380 market. In time once airport infrastructure is done EK will become an A380 as figures suggest that Adelaide has the passengers for 1x A380 a day (whether that be seasonal or all-year round). However they could go down the path of 2 B777 flights which will cater for the fright market out of Adelaide, the A380's can't hold much cargo hold and Adelaide has a huge freight load on most of its current flight (It wouldn't surprise me that MElbourne doesn't send some of its freight to ADL as they have 2x A380's a day which don't hold to much fright ).

Two 777s would be better then a single A380.

I don't recall anything specific regarding an expansion taking place, except for the master plan. They have done some work on the international departures and arrivals though.

Adelaide Airport managing director Mark Young said planning for the three key projects would be progressed this year, with construction expected in the next two to five years.

Other infrastructure projects planned for the next five years include an expansion of the international arrivals hall, additional international arrival gates, an expansion of the main security check point and more retail space and airline lounges.

In the longer term, a light rail corridor has been mooted, allowing for a possible future tram link to the city.

There isnt enough room for more gates at the moment. I guess adding them will involve a terminal expansion.
