From right next to it, there shouldn't be any obstruction on the Eastern side (although the fact you would be standing next to the building means to you wouldn't be able to see most of it)
From further away (such as King William), about half the building at least will be blocked from view, and all the northern face of the building will be obstructed.
I have a feeling that the northern expansion of the casino will be seen as an extremely ugly decision 30 years from now.

I tend to agree, in-fact I have a feeling this entire precinct will be seen in that light 30 years from now. Particularly the cafe/restaurant building that will run along the back of Parliament House. Why do a lot of upgrades to public infrastructure in Adelaide age so poorly? Is it the lack of on-going investment, is it the poor policing of the area, or is it simply poor design elements to begin with? I was at the Museum the other day and the entry to the building is genuinely awful... the northern end of Victoria Square is also starting to look tacky as well. What's the point of undergoing these works if you aren't going to make it last...

Kind of how I view the original riverbank developments (ASER) of 30 years ago today! I would have preferred that they directed the current public investment in the area to correcting those past mistakes, rather than blighting it with further errors. The casino is case in point - rather than obscuring the great public monuments that are our railway station and playhouse, the casino expansion should have/should be directed to fixing/inhabiting the flawed buildings & environs of Intercontinental, its forecourt, and the Riverside Centre. There we'd have the opportunity to build a genuine connection between the terrace and the river, while allowing the casino its expansion and hotel. Everybody wins!

I have been away from the country a bit. When is this whole plaza project and casino going to be finished by? I am excited for Adelaide in about 5 years time when all the redevelopments are finished.

I think I read earlier post somewhere Festival Plaza and office building will be finished in 2019.
As for the casino, who knows? Skycity keep pushing the timeframe of the project out.

Now with the footy season over for Adelaide Oval (nice job crows!), I wonder if we will start seeing some serious action now?
Already a couple of sculptures have been removed.

Couple of pics of the 'media wall' to the north-eastern side of the Festival Centre (concealing cooling towers).
Could look great if done properly.

My god that office tower looks hideous. I hope it's not close to being the final design.
Would be a travesty on that site if it got approved in its current form.

I like the front facade of the Festival Centre. I would hope this would extend to the other Festival Centre buildings. And GOD I hope that ugly brown brick around the base of the centre is changed. That and the mural are an eyesore.
The office tower has always looked much like this has it not? I find it disturbing shit like this can get the okay in such a prominent stop.
The architecture of all the new buildings is a mess. It could work, in that everything looks so different, I won't ride this off as yet but some cohesion would have been great. The three convention centre stages are all different. The potential Casino will again be very different with curved lines, then the office tower is a square box (would love it to have a finish to that of the Casino or Festival Centre) and across the river you have Adelaide Oval and a potential Memorial Drive dome.
I don't doubt this space could become a great attraction for the city, I just hope it can look halfway decent.

Beggars can't be choosers... A lot of you wanted a 'tall tower' as part of this to bring masses of people to this area during working days. Both of these wishes have been fulfilled, now you all want to complain about the design? Did you honestly expect any better than what's proposed? Walker has to finance a majority of this project, something had to lose out and that something has been the design of the building. If people wanted a cohesive design throughout this area, considering the tower is a private element of the project, people would have been better off kicking up a stink about to the government about the Convention Centre extension/s.

Please....no ! It would be a crime if that's the planned design of the tower. It looks like a massive tombstone dumped on the plaza...totally out of proportion and disrespectful to all of its neighbours. If ever a site demanded an iconic design then this is it.
