Gerard McCabe in Rundle Mall Plaza has expanded into the former eQuip.
Spotlight has now closed too.

Sushi Time has opened at City Cross (in a former Subway portion).
For starters, my avatar is the well-known Adelaide Aquatic Centre insignia from 1989.

That's both upper level tenancies in Rundle Mall Plaza vacant at the moment right?

There's a pasta place opening where Kopi Kitchen used to be at City Cross. Let's hope it lasts longer than Fasta Pasta in Rundle Place.

Yep, they've even turned off & barricaded the escalators.

In a further blow to Adelaide Central Plaza, Pumpkin Patch will close by the end of next week as its one of the chains worst performing stores. No surprise really. ACP needs major modification to the layout, as does the Myer centre.

We have so much vacant retail space in the Myer Centre, Rundle Mall Plaza and Adelaide Central Plaza and major tenants desperate for space. I don't understand why none of these landlords have the foresight to make it happen.

Not really ACP's fault in this place, Pumpkin Patch are closing all of their stores after going into receivership.

No, only the worst performing stores. IN SA just this one and Colanades are closing.

Wonder what will happen to the Nova building.
No more split-screens for Palace Nova as it closes Rundle St building to expand Cinema Place site

Sophie Perri, The Advertiser

PALACE Nova Cinemas will close its building on Rundle St and merge from two locations to one from Thursday.

The cinema on the south side of Rundle St will close and be merged into the nearby Cinema Place building, next to The Elephant British Pub in a laneway on the northern side of Rundle St.

Work has already started on the Eastend site — historically referred to as the Palace Building — to expand it to 12 screens.

The cinema has operated across two buildings on opposing sides of Rundle St for more than a decade.

Palace Nova Eastend itself started out as three separate cinemas — The Imax, Palace Cinemas and Nova Cinemas.

Palace Nova is also expanding out of the city to a new site at Prospect, which is currently under construction

The cinema’s marketing manager, Yolanda Sulser, said she couldn’t say too much about the reason for the closure, only that it was a move that had been discussed for “for some time”.

“We are just really excited to get it in the one building, it’s a bit bittersweet to lose the Nova building, it has a wonderful balcony, but the silver lining is people won’t get confused,” she said.

“It’s not a large factor in the reasons we are closing, it’s something we have all dealt with comfortably but it’s definitely a silver lining.”

The Nova building is owned by the Maras Group.

In total, 27 stores are closing nationwide.

American Apparel is shutting down its Australian presence (online and the three stores in Sydney, Melbourne and here) as the American parent company pulls back from abroad to save itself at home. The stores will liquidate remaining stock and will likely close before the end of the year or sooner. A bit of a shame as they were one of the first international brands to open up here and I personally didn't mind their basics.

However, they occupy one of the biggest and more prominent retail spaces on Rundle Street, so I can't imagine it'll be vacant for long once on the market again. I'm not sure it's quite big enough for the likes of Zara or H&M, so I wonder who might jump for it. Topshop/man?

In other news, Australian womenswear brand Aje will be opening up before Christmas on Rundle Street, and Gorman will be branching out from there with their second Adelaide store at Burnside Village.

What do they expect, people don't want to pay $50 for a plain Tee or $150 for a knitted jumper!

Where is Aje opening?

Mazzuchelis are opening a flagship on the corner of Goolwa Place and Rundle Mall in the previously vacant store. they are currently only about 3 doors down.
