Well crap, I never realised the carpark would be that big.
At that height and in that part of the city, it's almost worth putting into the future skyline
Hopefully they put even just a tiny bit of effort into the design of the carpark so that it won't look like a giant prison like the one on Wakefield Street, the one behind the U2 site and the one recently blocked out by Vue all do. But I won't hold my breath.

I think the ground floor of the carpark is now to be a cafe/restaurant and the top floor will be offices.

An update of the hospital basement as at 13/11/16. This must be the final depth (on the northern side).

There's terrible, and then there's that... I'd have preferred a mesh/barred wall (similar to the Target carpark) to the concrete slab that will side with OTR...Ben wrote:car park looks terrible but to be expected.
Noticed in the render there is a building shadow on the neighbouring block, glad to see this. In the past when I've spoken about there being plenty of sites in our CBD perfect for development, that is one that has always come to mind, another is across from the new Calvary site on Pulteney Street.

So is the hospital currently under construction?

Just to be clear this is the 8 level car park on the south side of Angas St next to the petrol station.

South side car park update concrete retaining walls have been erected on the back and southern part of the east side where the surface is below ground level. Pad footings have been prepared for the steel columns. Note the holding down bolts protruding from the centre of the pads-4 per column. These fix the columns to the ground. on the hospital site over the road on the northern side of Angas St piling for the actual building is taking place. These are driven piles (hammered into the ground by dropping a weight as opposed to being dug out by a rotating spiral shaft for bored piles).

Steel erection has stared in the car park on the south side of Angus St. I will try to get a picture soon.

Walked past today and the basement level foundations are largely complete. I could not see any crane base or even where one would go. It didn't look like it would be in the centre of the site. Maybe they will use mobile cranes? I hope not.

From when I walked past last week, no piling had commenced for service cores yet. I see they are using rammed piles, which tells a lot about the soil structure on site (might be close to a water table, or soil has a high moisture content. Usually once all of the piles are driven (which I don't believe is the case here) a raft slab is pored, then services commence on top.Ben wrote:Walked past today and the basement level foundations are largely complete. Given the size of the site, and the fact there's basement levels i'd be stunned if there isn't multiple tower cranes used.
