I would basically say they [or anybody else] has the right to run their business/company any way they want provided it is legal. And its up to the public to DECIDE whether to shop [or work] there or not.
Ok lets assume OTR weren't here, so it would be more power to Coles/Woolies duopoly and even less competition. What is to stop Coles/Woolies controlling the petrol prices then [or even now]? My point is you can jump to the same conclusions and outcomes if OTR weren't here anyway!
On the building, explain why the Bath & Nova apartments etc are ok in the area and this building is not? Further the new building would be a similar height as the Water Tower and Church Spire which are both directly opposite! So its not like this buildings height sets a precedence for the area!

Of course. What's legal though because of loop holes isn't always ethical. Hence why many aren't happy.
But anyhow, this proposal, and the wider area. What's the councils plans?
If I remember correctly the tram is meant to eventually go up the Parade at Norwood, and there's meant to be higher density development along it. Does it extend that far to where this is?
I mean you don't buy a house in Kensington for the high rise views or blockages from high rises. It's suburbia essentially not really an inner suburb on the city fringe(although close), so I understand residents concerns.
Is there a push of plan to increase the areas density?
If so those residents do have the option to vote at council elections...
It would imo be better if they moved their hq to the CBD.

This height will severely overwhelm the state heritage listed buildings located on that corner, especially the
iconic Clayton Church.
Why is it that the older residents of Adelaide think that a heritage listing also protects the surrounding properties ?
Holy Trinity on North terrace is heritage and the Embassy building (18 levels) is right next to it.
Since when has 7 levels been excessive height ???As a local resident and ward councillor, I ask that the design be reconsidered that will complement the historic
nature of the area, and to reduce the excessive height of the proposed building.

What's sad is that no matter how convincing the arguments against this development are, most of you will ever even consider these points. Furthermore, the consultation process has become so flawed based on the fact that John Rau seemingly only cares about is his own agenda and doesn't consider not the concerns raised quite loudly by those against this. Hell, for simply raising this point I know I'm going to attract the belittlement of those on this forum who think their opinion sits above everyone else's.

A report released last week showed the height of the office building would be lowered from 38m to 34.8m under final plans for the project.
The report, from MPH Architects, stated the changes had taken into account neighbours’ concerns, while ensuring the development would be a “landmark … and gateway” to The Parade.

Anyone know where the staff/company will relocate to while this gets built? I am thinking their building on King William St Cnr Hindley (anyone know if much of it is vacant?).
