That is the project name, not the name of the apartments and secondly are you an economist?ghs wrote:Now I've seen a few funny things on this website and I am happy to admit that some of my comments in the past
have been controversial. But 'Dominator 1' as a name and with a height of 230 metres is ridiculous. Datong are a joke.
Adelaide doesn't have an economy to support a building of that height.

Mate, I am not an economist. How could a business justify a development of that height when
we haven't had anything more then 132 metres over the last 35 years ?

Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development
They obviously know more about Adelaide's economy than you... Do you seriously think they just guess and then hope there will be a demand for it once it's been built?ghs wrote:Now I've seen a few funny things on this website and I am happy to admit that some of my comments in the past

Oh so your basing your prediction on no economic basis whatsoever...interesting.ghs wrote:Mate, I am not an economist. How could a business justify a development of that height when

Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development
Is there a height where building becomes significantly more expensive? Is it less than 230m?
Otherwise, I can't see how the economy wouldn't support a 230m building when apparently it'll happily support several 100m+ buildings...

It's fair to say that Datong / JWDT doesn't have much integrity given what has happened with U2 on Waymouth.GoodSmackUp wrote:They obviously know more about Adelaide's economy than you... Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development
Once again do you know the story behind the delay at U2? You're very quick to jump and make accusations without research or fact.ghs wrote: It's fair to say that Datong / JWDT doesn't have much integrity given what has happened with U2 on Waymouth.
Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development
Yes I know the story behind U2. They said that construction had started 18 months ago and still to this day, nothing has happened.Ben wrote:Once again do you know the story behind the delay at U2? Interesting enough if you were to go back through the U2 thread, you will find that I was the only one on the forum who successfully
predicted that nothing will happen.

I also remember something about a "Valley of Death" prediction.
Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development
We know what has and has not happened, what we do not know is WHY. Without this knowledge it is irresponsible to throw around accusations and assumptions.
Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development
I was correct with that prediction also. There was a dip in the number of cranes on the skyline at theNorman wrote:I also remember something about a "Valley of Death" prediction.
end of last year and we are now on the way back up.
Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development
I wouldn't call what we had a "Valley of Death" though. What was it, a reduction in 1, 2, 3 cranes?ghs wrote:I was correct with that prediction also. There was a dip in the number of cranes on the skyline at theNorman wrote:I also remember something about a "Valley of Death" prediction.

No you weren't correct. Your definitely of a "valley of death" seems to be very different compared to everyone else on this forum.ghs wrote:I was correct with that prediction also. If anything we reached a so called "valley of death" last decade or the 90s.

At 230m, the building has to be in the south east corner of the city - I'm talking like near Calvary Hospital area. AAL / CASA wouldn't allow it otherwise.

The jives with the Pulteney/Flinders St corner speculation. Can't be much further south, as they do specify "core".[Shuz] wrote:At 230m, the building has to be in the south east corner of the city - I'm talking like near Calvary Hospital area. AAL / CASA wouldn't allow it otherwise.
