Hope they get it! It is one of the better looking proposals in Adelaide - what better area than Hindmarsh Sq. with Conservatory and the hotel/resi, redevelpment of the Sq., and the changing face of the carpark nearby.

Like others have said, it's time to leave the restrictions of the 1800's behind. If airspace is an issue - which it was in the 1980's - I'd like to understand the very slowly lifting height limit in the early 1980's from approx. 19 floors.(AMP building) to Santos/Westapac bldg.(mid 1980's). Do planes come in from a higher/different trajectory now - or is it all a con??

As an extra - this pyramid shaped CBD concept that is purportedly desired by the ACC, and used to dstop such developments as Aurora, does not measure up when including KWS south developments - all accepted by the very same ACC. IMO it is so much garbage due to inconsistencies.

If this does get major project status that is pretty much the end for the ACC DAP. As most of their refusals are getting over turned by the government:

Conservatory on Hindmarsh
Le Cornu Site
Victoria Park Redevelopment.

To name a few.

I hope this building gets approval, in some form or another, but I think that Hines have gone the wrong way about it. As for major project status... this really is only a 15 storey commercial block. There is no real reason that it should get major project status apart from the fact that it is already 40% sold.

Adelaide may have to wait until planes take off vertically to see any height restrictions lifted.

It makes the city look like a Disney fairytale castle. Yes, I also think this is laughable.

if any thing adelaide should go for a tall skyline stetching east to west, making it look bigger than it actually is,
though i dont believe this devolpment deserves MPS id love to see the ACC be gone with.

I really wonder if anything would be any different if there were no airport - too many nimbys around. All the noise from them bespeaks a prevailing attitude overhung from the 1890's. Look at what happened to Glenelg.

I'm probably too cynical in this however and Adelaide to me still takes some beating!

Seems the council is recommended to approve this building on Monday whether they do or not is another thing.

The new proposal is essentially the same as the old one except:
  • The 2 building will now be more disticnt, one 15lv 53m and one 14 lv 50m

the balconies on the Western Side are to be removed

In addition the top level of the eastern building will now be set back 10m from the northern boundary, and 7m from the eastern boundary, giving the building the impression of a 13 level - 46.7m tall building when viewed from ground level.

*The balconies will be removed from the western building, together with revision of architectural expression and proportions of that building.

*the proportions of the eastern building will also be remodelled.

*The roofline profiles of both buildings will also be changed.
