Or this:

I think it's a pretty bold and unique addition to the skyline and I suspect it will grow on people as it's completed.
I'm actually pretty excited about this one. There's not much like it. Anywhere. Let alone at this scale.

The design will evolve with the context of the street as other highrises go up around it. At the moment it's judged on its lone self. Plenty of buildings before it have looked ugly by themselves but great in a crowd and vice versa.Pikey wrote:How about we let the building get to it's full form, including glazing and full angular sweep before we condemn it to Brickbat status.
I actually quite like what I see so far, the random nature of the windows coupled with the polished concrete I think will quite intriguing. Particularly if the glazing does end up the reflective black that was noted in the first renders, it could be quite stunning on dusk to look at.
Let's give it time.

As seen from Franklin Street.

With better buildings eventually surrounding it... this may not be as bad as first thought?
Who am I kidding it's hideous but I don't hate it. How many more floors to be added?

I tend to agree - it's hideous, but somehow not as bad as I expectedMpol03 wrote:With better buildings eventually surrounding it... this may not be as bad as first thought?

It's fine. I went past it a week or so ago, and up close you can see the aggregate in the pre-cast. I expect i'll get a bit of a polish at the end to show it up a bit more, rather than painting.

I believe it's quite good. I agree with the comments regarding the quality of the aggregate which once polished will look great. Once the reflective glazing goes in, I think the overall appearance will lift dramatically.

So, a Terrazzo look? That will be interesting. Okay, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and keep my opinion to myself until it's done. I'm a fan of terrazzo, on the floor.Pikey wrote:I believe it's quite good. I agree with the comments regarding the quality of the aggregate which once polished will look great. I really quite like it.
Very different to anything else being put up at the moment.

My concern is actually with that brick facade element on the corner. But I'll wait for the building to grow up to judge it in its full context.

Level 9 went up during the week. Should
Top out by September given that there's 8
More levels left and they're going up one
Level every fortnight. It's surprising to see
A building go up so quickly in Adelayed.

The photo from a few days ago shows 7 complete levels with no noticeable work on level 8!!ghs wrote:Level 9 went up during the week. Should

Ghs is trying to elicit a response from you, and succeeding. If you stop responding, he'll get tired of making those gibes and will stop.timtam20292 wrote:It's spelt ADELAIDE.
Anyway, I'm sort of tending to agree with some of you here. I'm kind of being taken in by this building at the moment, even though it's pretty damn ugly. I hate those dinky random windows cut out of the facade, but at the same time, it's a unique building for Adelaide. I'm almost willing to give this the benefit of the doubt until it's finished.
I dunno, maybe there's just some buildings that are so ugly but you just can't help but like them. For me, that long thin green motel in Hindley/Bank Street is an example.
