[COM] Re: Renaissance Arcade | 132m | 40lvls | Realm Apartments
Fairly sure I noticed watching last night's Power game (and also the Showdown two weeks ago) that there was advertising for this development on the LED screens.
I'm finding it interesting where we're seeing ads for apartment developments popping up these days. I think I've seen some developments advertised on trams (East End Living and West Franklin from memory, possibly some others as well), someone mentioned an in-flight magazine ad for Kodo. It and August Towers have also had television commercials. The developments all seem to have their own social media pages too.
I didn't follow developments in the city last decade, but did developers of apartment buildings that never got up (like Spire) ever try and do these sorts of things to distinguish themselves? Obviously they couldn't do all of these things back then (LED signage only came to AAMI Stadium in about 2009, the old trams can't be covered in quite as many ads and social media wasn't as popular), also there was the GFC and apartment living in Adelaide didn't seem quite as attractive back then, but still. Just something that has caught my attention.

One bad thing for this which they don't have in the renders is the 23 storey neighbour

Isn't the student apartments on Austin St backing onto this?

Just wondering whether the first 20 or so levels will be holiday apartments, and above that private owners!
Not sure you would want to live in a 7th floor north facing apartment with the student accomm. building 20 metres away.

The lower 20 stories are classed as a different type of apartment and don't have access to the pool and gym etc. They are more budget style due to lack of views etc.

I would imagine there are enough people who would be more than happy to live in the very heart of the city, view or no view.

True. So long as they're made aware. As I said the render omitted the rather imposing 23 storey right next door.

You can be fairly sure that they wouldn't have been made aware.
Most of the bottom half of the building would have been sold throughout Asia using their selling agent networks in Malaysia, Singapore, HK & China. Many, if not most, of these buyers have probably never visited Adelaide and probably don't intend to.

Probably created by the same douche who keeps vandalising the 'Tallest Buildings in Adelaide' Wiki page with false information.Ser Noit of Loit wrote:Wikipedia jumping the gun a bit https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Realm_Adelaide. Unless they've got a crystal ball

You've missed nothing. There was this Wikipedia stub page about five lines long for Realm Adelaide that said it was under construction in Austin Street and would be completed in 2019. No renders or anything interesting like that either.timtam20292 wrote:That link just goes to the "list of tallest buildings in Adelaide" page.
I have noticed lots of vandalism on that Wikipedia page lately. Some filmmaker guy called Brady Haran made some podcast talking about how fascinated he was with the Grenfell Centre or "Black Stump" when he was a kid, as it was our tallest building and completely different to the rest of our beige-brown skyline back then.
So for whatever reason, a little army of Brady Haran fanboy vandals keep changing the name "Grenfell Centre" to "The Mighty Black Stump".
