I liek trains. ;)
Just out of interest, does anyone have any data on how tapping off affects unload times on trams? I can see how it works where you have barriers , like on subways, but how about random access vehicles like trams and busses?
We are getting our first tram soon!

The problem in Canberra is that, until recently, they only opened the back door for exiting at stations. Which meant having to fight your way to the front and then battle boarding passengers just to get off. A nightmare of slow load times! The tagging off was of little consequence here.

Just move the tap on/off machines to the platform, boarding/ departing times not affected by passengers tried to engage the ticketing system. This is how it works in Sydney (and works well).

Two things about this ticketing subject:

1). It's off topic, and

2). It's not even being considered for Adelaide, so

How about starting a thread for ticketing where people can howl at the moon about this, that, or the other systems they think Adelaide should have when the present one outlives its usefulness, whenever that might be?

There's a site office being set up in Kintore Avenue with some York Civil containers. Possibly the first steps.

Fair call.....I will start a new thread in the Visions and Suggestions Forum to deal with the possible future changes of public transport ticketing.

Good news. I was around today but didn’t notice... hopefully, soon they will be a bit more noticeable...

Not sure if it's related to the tramline work or not, but all the angled car parking out the front of Ayers House has been closed off.
Can confirm now it's for the tram. Banners have gone up on the fencing for the project. Looks like they're using the area for machinery storage.

Received this flyer by email this evening, with more detailed look at stop locations and timeline. Key dates are reinstatement and finishing works for Nov-Dec 2017, and tram operation late first quarter 2018.

So if the diagram is accurate we won't have a full monty at the KWS and North Tce intersection? Looks as though three corners covered only? Great info though

I agree, If that is what we will end up having at the intersection then I'm happy we now know.

Nope, not unless you transfer at Railway Station Stop.

The animation linked the PDF shows the full 4-way intersection at KWS/NorthT, but I don't know if that's outdated.

Well according to the map in the brochure that Nathan posted, that is not the case now. The animation is possibly outdated.

Workers showed up tonight and began digging up North Terrace between East Tce and Frome.
I also noticed that the words 'old rail' had been painted in the middle of the road near the Freemasons building. Could this mean there are still original tram rails buried there?
