Ok, chill guys it was a earlier design :D

Looks like the architects of the tower are Hammerstein.

Actually they put the curve in.

Ergo... Vis a Vis.... Concordently...

It's an earlier design.

I was actually looking for any cool Queensland renders on that site but thought this might be of interest to you guys. The fact the pic was uploaded in October 2006 is indicative of it being an earlier design. So fear not!:P
lol what a night

After spending the early part of last week in melbourne CBD I was a little depressed when coming back to Adelaide and having to go back to work in our CBD .. very uninspiring .. I noticed there is no stopping progress in Melbourne and even managed to catch a glimpse of their "London Eye" going up as we drove to airport .. Isn't there's something like 125 metres high, overlooking Vic Harbour and the city .. whilst our proposal (and I know this isn't the forum for it) is like 25 metres at Glenelg, tucked behind apartment buildings .. overlooking peoples living rooms!! Gets me excited .. not !!

Lets do something right once for farks sake.

Again, if I hear the word 'height restrictions' or even worse, 'parklands' .. I will heave!!!!

I'm for one glad they are not building that thing in Adelaide.

The one in Melbourne is really going to be blocked out by Apartment buildings aswell

I made that exact point in the proper forum many weeks back. 25M ferris wheel is next to useless!

Has the CAA made any comment on this proposal and any news when its going to the DAP for approval?

Cheers

I have exceptional news!

Next week the ACC DAP has been reccomended to grant planning APPROVAL to this development. The good news is that planning approval will be given to the 123m/31 level version of the development complete with curved element!

I wouldn't get too confident yet there are a lot of nearby residents and business owners who want to speak at the meeting and i doubt you would go out of your way to say something positive about a development. Hopefully this won't effect the decision though.

I doubt it will. Most developments presented for approval have a few negative responses.

In addition the development officers have used the words "grand office building" to refer to the development whilst also stating that this development has enough merit to go over the height restrictions. In addition the shadows that the building will cast have been described as minimal.

However considering the Aurora debacle, you are right in saying that we should wait. But despite this, I'm excited because I actually doubted that the recommendation to the DAP would be positive.

Fantastic news Will - at 123m as well as with the curved cantilevered section. :D :D :!: :!:

I believe the ACC and DAP move will in the end prevail over the resistance that could occur given the iconic nature of the building. It is an outstanding, exemplary and international design IMO. Be good to get Urban's comments as he is an architect.

I wonder how long it will be to construction?

Construction is expected to last for 18 months. However this first dependes on the project finding a tenant.
