Twenty-storey apartment building for Rundle Street
Registrations of interest are open for apartments in a 20-storey building to be built on the corner of Rundle Street and East Terrace in the city.

The 63-metre tall building received little attention when it gained development approval earlier this year, but is set to transform a key corner of the East End.
The “Monument” project will include 74 “luxury” apartments: 28 one-bedroom and 42-two bedroom apartments, and four three-bedroom penthouses.
It is a joint venture between Mark Ebbinghaus, an Adelaide ex-pat who is now the Singapore-based global head of real estate and industries banking for Standard Chartered, and Adelaide company C Projects.
The developers said the building’s design, by architects BDA and Adelaide-based TECTVS, will feature adjustable architectural screens on the facade, to produce a “unique movable mosaic” which combines influences from the parklands and Colonel Light’s layout for the city.
Director of C Projects, Stephen Connor, said the project would maintain and enhance heritage buildings on the corner site as part of the redevelopment.
“The project will also add significant employment and economic benefit for South Australia, with an estimated 110 jobs created in construction and a further 1100 jobs in the broader community,” he said.
Construction is expected to begin in 2018, he said, with completion by 2020. Registrations of interest are open now.
“Monument” is one of several new residential developments approved for the East End.
Around the corner in Frome Street, the 134-metre high hotel and apartment complex – Frome Central – is due for completion in 2019.
The favoured developers of the old Royal Adelaide Hospital site want to build more than 1000 apartments on the soon-to-be vacated piece of land.

I don't know if it has been approved of if indaily have made a mistake but ive never seen anything on the DAC site about it.
i don't mind it as long as they don't complain about the garden and restrict its trading hours etc.

A LUXURY 20-level apartment complex is set to dominate the skyline at the junction of one of Adelaide’s busiest shopping and socialising intersections.
Monument is a planned 63-metre high development on the corner of East Terrace and Rundle St in the city’s East End and will comprise 74 luxury apartments including four, three-bedroom penthouses with sweeping views across the parklands, Adelaide’s foothills and the city.
Development Assessment Commission approval (DAC) has been granted for the $70 million project, which is a joint venture between Singapore-based financier Mark Ebbinghaus and Adelaide developer C Projects.
Architects BDA and Adelaide-based TECTVS have designed the building, which will be set back from Rundle St and East Terrace and will provide a unique, movable mosaic through the innovative use of adjustable architectural screens on the building facades, which combine influences from the parklands and Colonel Light’s layout for the city.
Stephen Connor, a director of C Projects, said that in addition to being a catalyst for economic development in the East End, the design of the project will also see the existing heritage buildings on the site maintained and enhanced as part of the redevelopment.
“The project will also add significant employment and economic benefit for South Australia, with an estimated 110 jobs created in construction,” he said.
“Not only is it the premier lifestyle destination in Adelaide, all apartments have superb, generous, functional floor-plans and will enjoy priceless views.
“It’s a great time to be buying an apartment in Adelaide, with stamp duty, rate holiday and construction incentives available for early purchasers,” he said.
Mr Ebbinghaus, a Scotch College Adelaide alumni, is managing director and global head of real estate banking at Standard Chartered Bank in Singapore, covering debt, equity and advisory functions across the public and private capital markets.
He has more than 25 years’ real estate experience and is a former advisor to several substantial real estate investors in Australia. He spent five years at JLW Advisory (a former division of Jones Lang LaSalle), where he was head of strategic investment advice for its Australian business.
He has an economics degree (accounting and finance major) from the University of Adelaide and a Masters in real estate and finance major from the UniSA.
Construction of the project is anticipated to commence late next year following a pre-sales campaign with completion touted as 2020.

I'm surprised they didn't choose a different angle for the render. That angle makes it stick out like a sore thumb.

The location is not bad it just means more has to be developed around that area in the future, so you you may as well start with this.

Truth is this apartment tower will always stick out like a sore thumb due to being surrounded by low rise state heritage listed buildings. It's a nice proposal, though for it's prominent location it needs to be cut down in height (maybe 10 levels) or set even further behind East Terrace and Rundle St, which probably isn't possible unfortunately.ynotsfables wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2017 5:33 pmThe location is not bad it just means more has to be developed around that area in the future, so you you may as well start with this.
Usually I'm very pro development, though I just have concerns regarding the negative impact this could have. It's a shame that the old markets site was wasted on bland low rise apartments, because this would of been the best location for taller buildings.
Who knows though, this might grow on me.

This to me, is the evolution of our skyline. If it is tastefully finished to complement the surrounding buildings then it will fit in.

I don't think it's a bad location at all, as long as we don't lose any heritage buildings I'm happy, I personally love the look of ground level heritage buildings mixed in with modern architecture, especially if it's decent quality like this.
