'twas reported in the Australian.
Also apparently the target population for the CBD is now 50,000 in 2040. When I left Adelaide it was 30,000 by 2020
2020 30k
2030 40k
2040 50k
The math checks out.

Official construction has started......why?......because we have a photo of men in suits shoveling dirt.......
From The Advertiser
Construction on Adelaide’s next tallest tower officially underway

HE sky’s the limit for Adelaide apartment living, as Premier Jay Weatherill yesterday broke ground on the groundbreaking residential complex, Realm.
Demolition of the existing building at 19 Austin St has already begun, making way for what will become Adelaide’s tallest building — a 40-storey tower that will rise 132m above Renaissance Arcade.
The $100 million building, to be erected by local firm Maxcon Constructions Pty Ltd, will create about 1800 jobs.

Can someone please explain why they keep referring to themselves in all marketing and media releases as being the tallest building in Adelaide? Doesn't Adelaidean have claim to that? Or have I missed a changed in the DA where they have increased their height?

The Adelaidean hasn't started construction yet so Realm is likely to be done first, meaning it will hold the title of tallest building for a few weeks or even months.

Because it will be.
The Chrysler building was the tallest in the world for less than a year despite the U/C Empire State Building always being planned to be taller.
It's called a race and we've got one baby. If Adelaidean wants to be taller they can prove it by.... building. That's the point of the marketing.

but haven't Adelaidean also demolished sections of the existing buildings on their site? As PeFe stated above, just because you get Jay there shovelling some dirt doesn't necessarily mean that construction is full steam ahead. U2 had the same ceremony about 18 months ago and they have only just started on site again in the last couple of months

The math checks out
Didn"t expect that from you, Mono.
We call it maths here in Australia. It's short for Mathematics - what is a mathematic anyway? Can you even have just one? Well no, because according to the dictionary it's not a word. The adjectival form of mathematics is mathematical (mathematical equation). But I still can't condone "math", especially here in Australia
cheers,

Quite correct, however the meme is quoting an illiterate American. Who is also a dog.
