They’ve been a bit confused with the works from Ayers House to East Tce, with the new gutters randomly alternating between the charcoal (as the rest of North Tce) and normal light grey. Looks a bit rediculous.

As far as I can see, the standard concrete is the old stuff and the charcoal kerbing is the new one.

Nope, the standard concrete is new too. It's the re-profiled section in front of the terraces, which used to be angled parking (and had very old crumbling gutters).

I love the idea that this was all just sprung overnight on an unsuspecting populace! Each moaner caught in traffic seems to think it is their right to receive a knock on the door from an employee of DPTI to personally explain how to keep an eye on the local news and to plan an alternate route. If you could trust the Sadvertiser more, DPTI might have used it as a vehicle for spreading the word?

Council chases $600 million election bounty.

A TRAM running from the city to Port Adelaide and Outer Harbor is the number one item on the council’s wishlist ahead of next year’s state election.

Port Adelaide Enfield Council has endorsed a plan requesting more than $600 million from the State Government for local projects including the PortLINK light rail network, a digital hub, upgrades to sporting facilities, a new waterfront fish market and a bike link from the Port to Mawson Lakes. Mayor Gary Johanson said the $558 million PortLINK – which would form part of a $3 billion Adelaide-wide tram network – was the council’s number one priority. “It would be the making of the Port,” Mr Johanson said.

As I was going past today, I noticed a couple of old wooden sleepers just pulled out from the old tram track. In a couple of places you can also see the slots in the old grouted ballasted tram track where sleepers originally were located. (The MTT used sleepers in ballasted track with cement grout dribbled through the ballast to form a weak mass concrete encasing the sleepers).

I'm never going to complain about a project like this, happy to see it underway so quickly. However, would've much preferred to see the electrification of the northern rail line first.

Why extend the tram line to an area that has just had our major hospital moved from it?
