The tram line is not being extended to nowhere. It is being extended to the Adelaide Festival Theatre and the currently under construction Festival Plaza, which will become a major events space and tourism drawcard. It also improves accessibility to the world class Adelaide Oval, which draws in attendances in excess of 40,000 on average at match day events.

The extension to the East End serves the popular North Terrace cultural and heritage precinct, home to the Government House, War Memorial Walk, Art Gallery, SA Museum, University of Adelaide and University of SA and the ever popular Rundle Mall and Rundle Street dining and shopping precincts. These locations are the some of, if not the biggest - visitor and tourism drawcards in the Adelaide CBD and will be utilized by the huge student population of the two major universities and workers along North Terrace.

It is anything but a tram to nowhere, it is a tram to not just somewhere; but a tram to everywhere - Adelaide's major key destinations.

Poor comment. Plenty happening in the East even with the RAH closure and a lot of development on the way. New school, future development of the old RAH, new student accommodation on North Terrace, Frome Central and Realm on the way and a potential tram extension to Norwood in the near future. The East will definitely benefit from this tram extension.

If only there were credible alternatives to driving through the heart of Adelaide at peak hour. Perhaps some kind of public transport system they could be working to update.

You’ve known about this project for months. You would’ve known that it would have impacted your daily commute along North Terrace. It is your own doing that you’re getting caught up in the traffic delays instead of working out an alternative route prior to the works commencing and sticking to that alternative route until the project is complete. Then you come on here and have a whinge. Just like an Adelaide Now commentator. And to jump on the “tram to nowhere” bandwagon....your comments and constant negativity are a disgrace.

So because you're stuck in traffic for a little longer everyday for the next few months, the future of this city's public transport network should remain the same? As it's already been mentioned, these works have been penned down for months and DPTI have been very open about the havoc that it would cause.
