Several buses both standard size and articulated buses were testing the tunnel. Picture shows a bus coming out onto hackney road this afternoon.

very good to see. I predict there'll be knock on effects to the whole Eastside of the city from this project. A lot more than 'just the 7 second improvement in transit times for o-bahn users. Taking busses out of that area (North tce/hackney road intersection) and (East terrace) should improve the commute for lots of drivers traveling to/from the Eastern suburbs every day.
Big infrastructure investments are usually under-valued and & over-criticized while in the planning stage. It's much easier to envision the here and now costs and inconveniences, and far more difficult to imagine fully the eventual benefits.

Im only concerned with Grenfell Street.

That road should have been upgraded before they start expressing buses down it.

Otherwise i do agree getting buses off that intersection should improve things.

The concern with Grenfell Street still goes back to $$$, the preferred option of a central transport corridor (as I posted previously), is beyond the State Govt and the ACC to agree upon - therefore the option being implemented will be the one advertised on Adelaide Metro last month, which is a revamp of bus stops along the corridor to better manage the additional bus traffic. Their allowance is to manage between 2,500 and 3,000 buses per weekday on the corridor, if that increases significantly, I guess the govt and the ACC will have to find the required $$$ to build the central transport corridor. Most can forsee the potential bottlenecks with moving the majority of eastern suburban bus routes plus increased O'Bahn services onto this corridor. The opportunity exists to turn a potential bottleneck into an efficient public transport corridor. Just need the political will to agree, fund and implement for the long term future.

Almost the whole road needs resurfacing. However, it does need a stronger base as well. It's not going to be cheap, so the state government should pitch in, given that it's them who are running the buses down there. A few more trees wouldn't go astray either.

Really, how much longer is the O-Bahn going to be around for? Another 20 years. We really need to start thinking about a long term plan for the corridor.

Four different bus models trialled our 670m O-Bahn tunnel on the weekend!
Here is your VIP tour through the tunnel as the first buses test the guided busway system.

Will the double-ended recovery vehicle test the track too?

Just had someone from the O-Bahn project drop by to let us know that there will be some upcoming night works on East Tce which will close off all access (can't remember the dates, but it'll be from 8pm until 6am for a few days) for a complete road resurfacing.

Asked the question about bike lanes on East Tce, as shown in some of the renders — they're not happening.

If true that's certainly disappointing :wallbash: :wallbash:
but not really a total surprise. The bike friendly render helps sell the project and then is quietly cut out towards implimentation so as to preserve a budget or to aqdd some nice little shiny thing for motorists that they weren't even asking for.
