Yes shocking. Hopefully these monoliths will one day be hidden away behind some well-designed tall towers!

I hope it doesn't just to remind so many of you on here that shit shouldn't just go up for the sake of building our skyline up.

I don’t think anyone on here has that opinion especially when it comes to these student accommodation. In fact most would even agree with Anne Moran’s comments that they are “dog boxes” and “suicide traps”.

Won't the Adelaidian block most of the eastern view (which is where it is most prominent)?

If it finishes as tall as it appears in the renders its still going to be a bit of a relatively prominent ugly cousin to the Adelaidean

This one was never gonna be pretty, but it helps justifying it as the price we had to pay for a potential new tallest in the Adelaidean
.

There's no justifying it, mate.

Rundle Street doesn’t deserve this building overhead.

I hope the proposed building for the North Terrace/Frome Rd intersection (on the current church site) is good, but if it isn't it is going to some some good schadenfreude to see the the Adelaidian developer try and argue why someone shouldn't be allowed to build it there after they have lumped this ugly POS on the same precinct.

Am I the only one that doesn't mind this? I wouldn't say that I love it, but I certainly don't hate it. I'd give it 6/10.

I don’t mind it much, but then I have a soft spot for concrete and geometric shapes.

At least the colour tones of the concrete panels on this one are relatively consistent. The variance in tone on the Waymouth street student accom. amplifies its cheap design IMO. Having said that this is still a poor outcome. Fingers crossed this is the last of these concrete monstrosities (wont be holding my breath).

Cue 20 years time and these will be facing the wrecking ball.
Our minimum planning and design standards needs to be reviewed again. There's too many of these ugly concrete boxes blighting our city skyline and its a poor reflection on the operation of our planning system, especially within the CBD. These buildings diminishes the architectural impact and visual amenity of our other high quality buildings.
Adelaide deserves better.
