Re: News & Discussion: Laneway Revitalisation Projects
Thanks, also walked past on Friday night. Such slow progression. Really shameful for the council.
*Looks at Dyson Airblade Factory* "I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit, it's the only way to be sure"
Re: News & Discussion: Laneway Revitalisation Projects
To be fair to the council, the work is being done by a private contactor, and the delays are due to having to fix additional underground services.

Topham Mall is looking good at first glance
Big infrastructure investments are usually under-valued and & over-criticized while in the planning stage. It's much easier to envision the here and now costs and inconveniences, and far more difficult to imagine fully the eventual benefits.
Re: News & Discussion: Laneway Revitalisation Projects
The Topham Mall thing is now sporting... something else.

This was in place a few weeks back but mysteriously disappeared. ..Norman wrote:The Topham Mall thing is now sporting... something else.

The ACC was going to hold supporters of the Frome St bikeway in those cages.. I guess letting crows eat political prisoners alive was seen as too 'medieval'

Yes I asked about its disappearance myself lol
Possibly a lighting feature?
Re: News & Discussion: Laneway Revitalisation Projects
Presumably it’s the interactive lighting public art we’ve been waiting for since 2013. I did see them testing light tubes on Sunday morning.
Keep Adelaide Weird
Re: News & Discussion: Laneway Revitalisation Projects
The lighting installation looks nothing like the renders... and is absolutely hideous.
What they've done at street level is looking good though.

Compared to what was there before? I'd say it is a vast improvement.

Agreed with Patrick, much better looking than what was there prior.

Add me to the "happy with the improvement" listtimtam20292 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 12, 2017 12:27 pmAgreed with Patrick, much better looking than what was there prior.

Personally, it looks like some of the cages one might find in Pattaya, but that's just me....

Bentham Street
Signs have gone up advising that the road will be one way from 1 January
Topham Mall
Plant pots have gone in and some engravings added to the concrete blocks. Seating has also been installed.
Bank Street
The street has been cleaned up and more flowers added. Looks fantastic! I just wish that green building was overhauled or demolished.
