And how does that make Theo responsible for Makris leaving the site undeveloped for the past 16 years? Anyway, if the adjacent North Adelaide Village is anything to go by its probably a good thing that all of Makris' proposals have flopped.Patrick_27 wrote:Hoooooold on a second, before you start making such stupid comments let's put some little-known facts out there... Theo was the reason this site was never developed in the first instance. When Bob Wallis owned the site and had intended to build a shopping centre (with cinemas) and sell off the remainder for a residential use, Theo cried to the ACC telling them that they should encourage Wallis to build a carpark on the entire block instead as to avoid spoiling the popularity of his own project on the East End whilst also potentially driving down Wallis' desire to do anything with the site so Theo himself could make an offer. This is how Makris ended up with the site; Wallis sold it to him for pittance so long as Makris allowed space for a cinema complex within whatever he ended up building. I'd rather a carpark or it staying empty than to see Theo take the site over now.arki wrote:Con, please consider selling your beloved site to Theo and Steve. North Adelaide could use the vision and wizardry they applied to the East End.

Jay Weatherill and Martin Haese to make an announcement regarding this site today at 9am.

It's that time of the year again. Nothing like rounding up December with some LeCornu spin.
[U/C] Re: Former LeCornu Redevelopment | Mixed Use
I'm thinking the announcement will be for a wind farm on the site

[U/C] Re: Former LeCornu Redevelopment | Mixed Use
ACC has bought the site. No idea yet on what will go there.
*Looks at Dyson Airblade Factory* "I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit, it's the only way to be sure"
[U/C] Re: Former LeCornu Redevelopment | Mixed Use
If the ACC own it..I'll bet you dollars to donuts it wont be a carpark or a highrise
Big infrastructure investments are usually under-valued and & over-criticized while in the planning stage. It's much easier to envision the here and now costs and inconveniences, and far more difficult to imagine fully the eventual benefits.
[U/C] Re: Former LeCornu Redevelopment | Mixed Use
if the ACC bought it under the eyes of a Labor government, you can bet your bottom dollar that it will be a Gulag.

I smell a tram extension.
But well done ACC, happy to pot you when you do blatantly dumb things but this isn't one of them.

Not just a car park. But a mixed use development should have at least some car parking. Underground like across the road would be good.noted wrote:A car park? yeah nah.

Looking forward to action happening soon.
Sheraton will no doubt still be looking to set up in Adelaide somewhere. The CBD would be a better location. Wonder if it could be the Adelaidean hotel?

Announcement on the ACC site:

Given the inability of council to decide on how to build a bike lane I'll be very surprised if this process goes smoothly.

Are there numerous councillors with an ideological vendetta against developing the LeCornu site? as there are against protected bike lanes.mshagg wrote: ↑Wed Dec 20, 2017 10:19 amAnnouncement on the ACC site:
