If Elenberg Frazer can get a 250m tower up in Melbourne inside of 1.5 years... how come they can't do a 140m one by Dec 2018 / Early 2019?

Completion has been brought forward by several months to end of 2019 and sales now at 85%.

Construction speeds up on Adelaide’s tallest residential tower

ADELAIDE won’t have to wait as long as expected for its tallest residential building as the developer announced yesterday construction on the 40-storey tower Realm will be completed ahead of schedule.

The $100 million 132m tower, was due to be completed early 2020, however the developer announced yesterday completion is now due late next year.

More than 85 per cent of the complex’s 314 apartments have sold since its February launch, and excavation is expected to be completed by January.

Construction on the 9-19 Austin St tower, right, which is being built by Maxcon Construction, will start in March, and the complex’s eight-storey podium with carpark, swimming pool, gym facilities and a retail space, is expected to be completed by the middle of the year.


Apartments in the complex range from $345,000 to $5.5 million for the two-storey penthouses.

Realm Adelaide sales director Ben Small said the project had been embraced by local buyers.

“The terrific pre-sale rates of more than 85 per cent within a 10-month period must be one of the strongest sale results in this market,” Mr Small said.

“A mix of both owner-occupiers and investors raced to obtain one of the best pieces of real estate in the most desirable location of Adelaide.

“Vue on King William is currently the tallest residential tower built by Maxcon and completed with a total of 205 dwellings. Realm Adelaide sold that number in May – four months into the project.

“This is the last opportunity for purchasers to secure their home in the sky.”

Mr Small said the building was particularly attractive to downsizers looking for a low-maintenance, inner city cosmopolitan lifestyle.


“The one bedroom, one bathroom facing East of the building is a perfect example, with uninterrupted views of Rundle Street, sweeping around to the Adelaide Hills and Adelaide Parklands,” he said.

Maxcon has been working around the clock and by the middle of next year, the 8-storey podium (same height as Adelaide’s rooftop bar and restaurant, 2KW) that contains car parking, retail space, swimming pool and gym facilities will be completed.
