I agree Rubberman, credit where credit is due, they have done an amazing job working 24/7, in stifling heat and around peak events with very tight deadlines and no room for error.

The West Terrace tram stop has also morphed to Royal Adelaide Hospital on Google Maps, Adelaide Metro's online timetables and in third-party transit apps like myStops.

I remember in the early days of the tram extensions (to City West then the Entertainment Centre), they seemed to struggle to update the destos in a timely way on the Flexities. Even last week, the Flexities inbound from Glenelg to Victoria Square were showing "Special", while the Citadis were able to display the slightly more helpful "Victoria Sq". If they can't manage to program all the plausible turnback points, you'd think they'd at least have a generic "City" destination.

Be interesting to see if they will enter the two new destinations (plus RAH) into the Flexities in time for the East End / Festival Centre stop openings.

Google maps satellite view of Adelaide has been updated. It shows the tramworks pretty much when they were at their busiest.

Big infrastructure investments are usually under-valued and & over-criticized while in the planning stage. It's much easier to envision the here and now costs and inconveniences, and far more difficult to imagine fully the eventual benefits.

Have you turned off the 3D option?
I had the same problem - there's a small "3D on" in the menu that I needed to click, which removed the large "3D" near the zoom in/out buttons. The images are newer with "3D off". Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

Haven't been following this closely, and apologies if I missed earlier in the thread, but is there any specific reason they have switched to side platforms for the East end rather than centre platforms as used everywhere else in the CBD? Operationally I'm sure the side platforms are better if 2 opposing trams happen to arrive at the same time, but I think the centre platforms look better as in KWS.

If the Liberals had any get up and go in them, they'd promise to slash travel times down the Port Road and Grange Road, plus remove most buses from the car and truck lanes by doing this. It would be cheaper than the O-Bahn tunnel , and probably save as much time. That is, if the Liberals had any get up and go in them.

Thanks for the reply rubberman. I do get that side platforms are the preferred operational option, but I guess I am just confused as to why, having committed to centre platforms everywhere else on the extension...suddenly they are back to side loading.
As for the Liberals and anything with steel wheels on steel tracks... :hilarious:

I think the reason for the change is because they are on a learning curve. I don’t say that to be snarky, there's really a huge amount of specialised stuff that differs from buses and trains. For a single line, it's hardly worth the cost of an extra two or three tram technology specialists. However, with the prospect of a new network, the danger is of falling into the clutches of consultants whose only aim is to gold plate everything without knowing enough to offset that in some way.

Just got this in my email:

"...Hello

Due to the forecast of very high daytime temperatures this weekend , the decision has been made to reschedule the Gawler Place intersection works to night time only .

Works are now scheduled for the evenings of Thursday 25 , Saturday 27, Sunday 28 and Monday 29 , with Tuesday 30 allocated as a contingency night if needed. Works will be from 8pm to 6am in this period , with no works occuring either day or night on Friday 26 January 2018.

Please note that during the night works, traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction along North Terrace ,with a return to two lanes in each direction during the day . Two lanes will remain open in both direction on Friday 26 January both day and night. Right turn traffic movements will not be permitted through the intersection during the work period.
