For those interested in the CityLink proposal, here is the multi-criteria analysis.

Most of the comments here so far have been addressed one way or the other in that analysis. So, anyone with strong views should read it. Those views may either be supported, or debunked with evidence. If supported, you can use it as ammo. Before that I was relatively familiar with Hutt Street and the western part of Halifax Street… (next to the Greek restaurant). Sturt Street and the southern part of Morphett Street were Terra incognita for me. In short, I was not impressed with the route choice.
The report included in rubberman post also confirms issues expressed in my previous post, especially the population density in the southern part of the CBD… and not only that.
To me, this report misses one important component – today’s usage of public transport (per routes) in the southern part of the CBD ie daily movement of people who live in that area or coming to that area. Relying only on to lay the tracks to spur urban development I do not think it is a good idea… there are lot of works to do for the urban development in that area before the Loop.
Anyway we all like trams… so at the very bottom it might be only difference in timing when the Loop should start... and of course where it should go.
P.S. Thnaks for the photo in previous post... it's good to see something we do not talk much about.

With the election only weeks away, has testing commenced on the new section of track along North terrace yet? Yes I'm just a little bit Excited that it's almost done.
I've always been using the election date as a rough end goal for the construction teams.

Big infrastructure investments are usually under-valued and & over-criticized while in the planning stage. It's much easier to envision the here and now costs and inconveniences, and far more difficult to imagine fully the eventual benefits.

The overhead wiring is not yet complete. It is up, but there are still final adjustments (getting the wires in exactly the right spot) and attaching feeders. There's also the question of the finishing of the stops. There's at least two weeks work there, and that's if they exdigitate.
By the looks of it, there's probably a few more days work on the overhead and maybe a few more days after that on signals. At that point, it might be possible to run test and training trams when the people working on the stops are knocked off for the day. It would depend on their safety and risk assessment, I guess.

One of the latest ex Madrid Citadis trams 208 was sighted "Not in Service" doing test runs on King William Street this afternoon.

Not much happened recently except the recent wiring and signalling, the Gawler Place stop is still very much in progress.

I noticed the other night that the two yellow beams forming the north platform shelter were misaligned. Hoping they'll be made good as the stop is completed, because it looked fairly shoddy.

I went this morning for a walk from Riverside stop till ex RAH stop and I am not happy. There are a lot of works left to do… mainly at the stops.
What also puzzled me is that most of night working lights were on with generators humming all the way… and my walk was between 9am and 9:30am.
I am posting only two photos as we already have a lot from NT.

Yes I'm also questioning why they aren't getting the works done sooner. Surely round the clock work should be happening?
