The suggestions that another developer would move their tower for the sake of views of another is laughable. Views in and CBD (any area to be honest) are a privilege not a right. If the developer was ultra keen on protecting that view, they would have to have purchased every adjacent plot in the block. Who is not to say that the site to the south won't be sold for another 30 level tower, or directly opposite them blocking out eastern views.

Unfortunately, it's called due diligence. If prospective buyers purchased northern facing apartments without understanding the impacts of CBD living, well, lesson learned.

It doesn't need to be directly next to the Adelaidian (yet still somewhere in the same area).

Think you'll find the development quite specifically has to be on land that you own.

The Bangaroo picture is a bit misleading. The towers going up were (they've since been completed) two of multiple planned towers as part of a massive redevelopment of the area, so it isn't like the smaller one is from a different developer pouncing on a site and "stealing views" from the one in the background.

Ps I admit the Barangaroo picture is old. There were 3 towers roughly 28,35 & 45 stories then an international hotel of about 50 stories was planed as well.

The difference is that the lower 2/3 of the Adelaidean tower are hotel and serviced apartments, only the top third contains regular apartments and half of these are above the top of the proposed student housing tower anyway...

The 80 apartments are in the top third portion. Assuming equal distribution of apartments around the 4 sides of the tower, that makes for 20 facing north. The penthouse apartments will take up a portion of the 17m clearance Adeladean has over the neighbouring tower. I'd say about 15 apartments will have their view partially built out. Partially; they still have an enviable clearance between their building and the neighbouring tower by East coast standards and uninterrupted NE and NW views.
